I've run TTRPGs for as many as 20 or so, but that was using Dread where all they had to do was pull jenga blocks, not fricken D&D 1e. I don't think I could manage it.
It’s more the role play aspect I was the thinking of.One thing about 1e, even with 14 players, not a whole lot of options for a player/class to choose from. Fighter or any melee class is swing once. Cleric and MU cast a spell or use a sling or mace so I’m guessing the turns were still quick enough.
