Your opinion about Rise of Nations

We are looking for a game we can multiplayer (4-6 players) in the office during lunch this fall and winter. Several of the guys have mentioned RoN and it's expansion Thornes and Patriots. What is your opinion about this game? Have you used the multiplayer option? Likes? Dislikes?

I like the game, don't have the expansion, and haven't realy done much in way of MP. The MP thing was mostly because I'd tried it fairly early on, and got 'schooled' repeatedly, thus loosing interest rapidly. I still play the single-player game now 'n again when I need a RTS fix. Unfortunately for yout his isn't much help, as I'm a very conservative player (thus I get blasted quickly in Online RTS play).

It's not a bad choice for that situation, as you can knock off games pretty quick. I found it much more fun than most other RTS's in multiplayer. Typically fewer units, and pretty balanced.

Overall, it's a pretty good game IMHO. It takes away quite a bit of the annoying micro-management that other RTS's have. Peons will go find work on their own after you build them, things like that. Very handy.
