Perhaps I've just been fortunate enough to find easy uses for so many PDFs, but the small focused PDFs I've purchased have been generally quite satisfactory. When I start a new campaign, I frequently browse the cheap PDFs to see what might present ideas and tools of particular relevance to my immediate needs... and even if I don't end up using everything I buy, just having those ideas on hand can be very comforting. And of course, the smaller files are more easily recognized for their relevance with such specific topics and foci. I did appreciate the PDF "bundles" that Ronin Arts had compiled when I started my current D20 MODERN campaign, even if I obtained a couple of products I'll likely never use.

I own many PDFs of various sizes, and I've never had much cause to regret those purchases. I am, however, a rabid fan of product reviews, and I almost never make a purchase if I am unable to locate any commentary concerning the product. The sole exception to this has been, on occasion, those smaller, cheaper PDFs... as I'm only out a few bucks if it turns out to be useless. And, like many consumers, I tend to lean most heavily on publishers I trust. (I am not yet a philreed fanboy... but it may be only a matter of time... ;) )

Dang, is my nose still brown? I thought I got that all off. :p

Hey, Phil even got me to create a .sig! His products are some of the few things I'm actually buying after 25 years of gaming (that and the Necromancer Wilderlands stuff). I have no qualms about speaking my mind about what I do, and don't like. I buy 'em, I like 'em, I use 'em. I can't say that about many products these days.

My issue with the poll is that "short" and "long" are relative.

Most would probably agree that 2 pages is short & 100 pages is long, but what about 22 pages, or 35 pages, or 48?

I'll wait for the compilation.

I'd guess the smallest one I would buy would be about 16 pages, but it would have to be a *great* 16 pages.

I second this. I can't see anything that I would buy that wouldn't require at least this many page. Thruthfully though I am only an indifferent buyer of PDF'S --

I don't worry too much about the total length as long as the content is good and not full of padding to make a much longer product. With pdf's I've reviewed I've had two longish ones (Elements of Magic Revised and Lyciean Arcana) and a few short ones, on the whole I don't mind short ones as long as the price is good for the content.
