Pal1/bard..... Now that's a preacher like Jack Chick would love to have... :D

Looks like we will see yet more large shield&Breastplate bards than ever.

I just hope that the rules do not allow serious aracane casters such as wizards and sorcerers to take 1 level (or even a couple of level) of bard to gain an exemption from arcane spell failure for wearing armor.

Platemailed sorcie here I come :D

Why wouldn't certain types of bards wear heavy armour. I can se a dwarven skald, or the heroic henry the V in a breast plate an giving their impassion pleas. While it is true not all bard would or should wear heavy armour most bards that I know have a high dex so wearing heavy armour would be a bad thing but I can see where some might depending upon culture and what type of bard they are.

I notice that if they chose to make bardic spells verbal-only, then removing spell failure would be useless. You don't have armor spell failure if the spell hasn't got somatic components.

So, if they felt the need to specify that the bard has no spell failure, I think it's likely that somatic components will stay.

I am also confident that there will be some mechanism to prevent bards from wearing full plates. ;)

Well WOTC does have a habbit of misleadingly giving out partial information. They have said bards suffer no spell failure...they havent said why not. I am guessing that since they dont like creating special expetions to the rules in 3e, they will achieve that by removing non verbal components from bard spells...which I feel would also make a lot of sense.
Now how about some thoughts on spells and bardic music?
