Your Playing Group - Do You Like It?

We need a choice for something in between Godly and good.

Like, "They are all that, just not with a bag of chips"

Last year when I moved from upstate new york, I left behind a group I'd been with for 8 years.

They were the Godly group...everything you could ask for and more. As it is nice, I have a really good group that I have a great time with...just not quite Godly though.

My group are... okay. Things have kind of dropped off a bit in quality, it seems to me.

I've got a pretty usual mix: a rules lawyer, a munchkin, a guy who doesn't really care about his character but just wants to check out cool stuff in the campaign, a couple of hardcore r-p'ers and one guy who... is just weird. One of those guys who never, ever, does anything that seems remotely sensible. He knows the rules straight up, and loves to play around and tweak things, but never gets lawyery, but I swear -- I never understand a single thing his characters do.

Pretty much all the NPCs (and all the other PCs) just treat his characters as though they were lunatics. Maybe that's what he wants. I dunno.

While I can't say that its a better group then God himself could put togather, I can say that is is the best group I have ever been part of.

Düsseldorf, what fond memories. There are many great bars there and lots of fun people, although the train station has wierd hours, or at least I thought so when drunk. I really want to get back to Germany.

If my wife does not get pregnant, I may try to get out to germany this fall. I love all of the festivals.

My group is excellent! But, the group I had before this (when I lived in Arkansas), was the best ever, and will never be topped. We were all great friends, and had a great time together.

The group I am in now is sitll comprised of some great people, but it doesn't quite compare.

I'm not sure how I'd classify them. One is a hard-core role-player, and he pretty much dominates the game. My friend's characters are all wreckless, and the girl in our group mostly plays fighters because she doesn't quite understand all the spellcasting rules.

The DM is doing an ok job, but he's hit or miss. Personality-wise, they're all good people, and I enjoy spending time with them.

--Uzamaki, it sounds to me like you need a new DM, rather than a new group. A new DM can work wonders. I'm not sure I'd allow the players to do what they're doing if I was DM'ing.

My group is great. We came together (for the most part) not as friends, but as gamers looking to get a good game going and we have accomplished that and have become friends (to one degree or another) in the process. (For example: we all went to go see the LotR movies together when they came out).

We have been together as group (7 of us total) for what will be 2 years in February. We are a mostly focused, usually serious, hadly-bickering, involved group.

But I can;'t help but ask. . . Why would you stick with a group of people you don't like?

I have never met another person who plays in over five years. And I do like them; they're my friends. I just never want to play with them again. And, since yesterday, I won't.
