Your Prc gets nerfed!!! what to do?

Should we all be playing half-elf commoners?

Yes, I'm interested in power. If I play a wizard, I want wizardly power. Because that's, you know, the point.

If I was happy with a class before, and all I know is that it's being weakened, I can strongly suspect I won't like the result. "Your class used to rock, now it must suck," is rarely an inspiration to roleplaying.

Most classes are focused on power in a certain area; prestige classes more so. If someone said, "Bear Warrior got a significant nerf," that would totally make it worth abandoning, since that is 90% likely to mean turning into a bear no longer gets you want it used to.

Which is why I'd like to know why the PrC was taken in the first place (the other part of the post).

Notice in the part I've highlighted that you didn't say: I know I would not like the result. which is apparently what the guy is saying to the OP. (maybe I'm just too cynical here :\ ). Power in itself isn't bad, it's the apparent lack of interest because he will no longer be the most powerful anymore (and yes this certainly may not be the case). Not knowing the PrC I don't know what was nerfed but does it still have power, but is no longer overpowered (as stated by a number of other posters)?

Without even knowing what the changes are I would question why anybody would loose interest. I've gone through a PC "nerfing" (by going to 3.5 and he wasn't an arcane caster) and it is not fun to not be able to do what you once did. I can understand being worried that the PC is no longer what the player envisaged the PC to be.

But I was willing to see what the changes did to my PC before making any decisions.

IMO, it's true, that the errata goes too far in the opposite direction, for that particular PrC (Weretouched Master). I'm sure you can work out some compromise with your player.

I call 'entirely too reasonable' on FireLance.

Isn't the whole point of the internet to leap to the worst possible assumptions about people whom we know nothing about?

I know it is for me! Why else would I register on the Wizards boards? ;)

Changing rules halfway in a game kind of mucks around with the previous decisions that were made. That's a pretty good reason to continue with the status quo.

That said, bunk rules make a bunk game. Having an overshadowing character is a pretty good reason to change to the better balanced rules.

Sounds like something is just gonna have to give, but even so the campaign might crash and burn anyway. I'd carefully consider my move regardless of what it was.
