You're roleplaying as a character in a certain world

If you would roleplay for fun, what kind of character would you be? The would you'd RP in could either belong to genres like fantasy, sci-fi, horror, superhero, historical/alternate history, or modern action-adventure.

Examples of certain worlds would include a western setting with steampunk elements, a world similar to the works of Moorcock, and a dystopian society.

I would be a male warrior in a world similar to Forgotten Realms and be able to travel through planes like in Planescape.

This is the premise for Westworld - Westworld (1973) - IMDb :D

Which they are remaking for 2012 - Westworld (2012) - IMDb

It, along with The 13th Warrior, is one of my favorite Michael Crichton tales. (There's a guy who passed way too young.)

I'd go with a the medieval theme, myself. Or maybe ancient Rome, pre-empire.

Cool thread. Ought to be in General, though, I think.

Sci-fi for me. I'd be the charming scoundrel, and spend my time hooking up with a wide variety of alien chicks. :D

while i do enjoy the magically-delicious feel of fantasy (particularly if it's not so over the top and around every corner) I think if it were me in some place i'd go for a more modern superhero game or a sci-fi game. reason being? I just prefer modern or advanced technology levels (and modern hygiene habits of society).

I'd be the side-kick or the person who hangs out in the base to look up info and coordinate what's going on in the field.

Perhaps Harry Dresden type setting. i would be a guy that stumbled upon the 'other world and has mak\de friends with creatures of fey and vamsires that were hiding from the winter queen or something. My character would have some sort of quarky anti magic field around him and the creatures that i hang out with are refugees from some war ar another that want nothng to do with the conflict, so they find refuge with my character, who treats them all s he ould people.

I could also be an adventurer in a 1930s pulp setting inspired by the works of Jules Vernes and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and movies like Indiana Jones and King Kong.

I've been thinking about this for days and frankly, I just can't decide...
I would love to play in ANY of the following:

Low Fantasy - Gritty, dark world under siege/in upheaval. Serious roleplaying.
Deep Space Traveller style game - Traders and tramps for hire.
Star Frontiers - Have medpak will travel.
Post Apocalyptic - Twilight 2000 style or even a high fantasy/PA variant
Shadowrun - But only if the GM knew the world style cold.
Historical Fantasy - Aye, I'm Scottish and you, you are CRAP!!!!
Paranoia - Beer, Pretzels and Zaniness abound

As for the perfect character in any of these settings, it would depend upon the mood during creation.

I once played a 5.X D&D cleric modeled after a Soviet Russian, who took his first feat in martial weapons and dual wield just so he could use a hammer and sickle. For me, the "power" of a build is less important than the "style" of the build, regardless of the system. So, it's would honestly be anything goes.

A dream game/system would be a practical Dr Who style setting (so far I've yet to see a good Dr Who RPG) with time and planar travel invoving problem solving of some sort whether thwarting an evil or right time inconsistencies like the old TV show Voyagers!
