I'm considering using the "crash a plane into the hill" idea, so that the military will be there for clean-up. The bad guys can't flagrantly mind-control because there is a sort of magical law enforcement group that might go after them, but mostly they don't need to use mind control anymore, since they had been subtlely befriending people over the long-term so that the friendship would last even after the spell ended. A concrete cap over the Chalice Well sounds good. Any alterations the military makes to the area need to be things that can be relatively easily reversed, so no taking off the top of the hill. Barbed wire and . . . what were those concrete barriers called? That's fine. It'll funnel the PCs in particular locations, which they'll no doubt try to avoid. Claymore mines scattered here and there are fine. As I understand it, they can be deactivated fairly easily, and so aren't like the mines that are banned by the Geneva Convention. Two snipers atop the Tor will be watching the approaches to the Chalice Well. Motion sensors will be placed there in case the group does manage to sneak in, and there'll be a unit of about twenty soldiers guarding the garden. Their purpose is really just to slow down an attack long enough for the choppers to be called in. The hill itself will have two lines of trenches, along with barbed wire and mobile machine gun turrets. Theoretically the PCs can approach from any direction, but eight emplacements would mean that two or three should be able to aim at any PC at once. Plus terrain adjustment will help direct the PCs in a particular direction. (more in a minute)
