Nice! IR touch sensors have been around for many years and are still used today -- the new Nook e-reader uses one, for example -- but they've just been simple orthogonal grids that don't allow for multitouch. Their demo implies (from a couple of the graphics) that they're using a much more complex web of lines: excellent!

I particularly like the layering idea. In fact, I'd love to see a tablet or other display with a capacitive touchscreen that has a couple of layers of IR sensor above it; amazing potential!
 

I wonder is a picture projected through it would effect it.
If it doesn't then anyone with a projection setup projecting downward could set the frame up around it and have a multitouch table.
I could see the day when you could carry it in a tube or small box. snap it togather into a frame.
