Zombies looking humans..

why bother with zombies at all? I prefer skeletons.

a) their moves look reasonably "normal" (and actual movement and action capabilities are fair)
b) they don't stink and
c) they don't do these groaning sounds (nuthin like "uuugh...fresh brain...uuuhgh...")

get something with a few racial HD, e.g. bugbears or devils, equip them and have fun

Yes, there's a very simple way. It's called "custom spell", and it comes in both arcane and divine flavors. If you're the GM, it's very easy to come by. If you're not, you might have a harder time. Especially if you've got the type of GM who rules that undead cannot be the target of "Gentle Repose". That type of GM is generally just looking to screw with you, and so is less likely to allow a perfectly reasonable spell.

But don't despair, even if you have such a GM he might not be trying to screw with you, he just might be very, very 'lawful', or possibly just very technical. Such a GM, assuming he's got enough chaos in him, can generally create new laws, and therefore new spells. Of course, he might NOT be able to do this, so it's still something to be concerned about.

Plus there's the spell "Disguise Undead" - 2nd level illusion, range touch, target one corporeal undead, 10 minutes per level, does more or less what you'd expect.

Magic of Faerun, page 89.

Really?
And here I made it a third level spell. Of course, I also made the duration longer.
(In a game where a character requested the spell. He wanted one that would last pretty much all day. At third level and an hour per level, that's a min of five hours, using a rod to extend the duration further and that's more than long enough for almost anything.)

Zombies are great at impersonating dead people. Put them in coffins with the order of not moving at all, and say you´re transporting them to their homes to bury them.

Bridle them up and make them pull your wagon. If anyone gives you grief, you get another zombie. (I assume your cleric is evil)

Please refrain from sweeping generalizations - especially if you use them to ascribe dubious motivations (and similar things) to people you disagree with. This goes for everyone, of course. Thanks.

I allow gentle repose do be cast on undead subjects. Leaving aside that several books talk about that, my rationale is that "corpse touched" doesn't necessarily rule out creatures. Creature or object is a dichotomy, but corpse isn't; a corpse is any dead body, even if it's still moving.
