  • "Okay, ye beat me. Ye go first. W' . . . What's tha'? What's a 'level bonus?' Well, not all character sheets are as complex as yours or yer allies'. So, when a character has a level bonus, ye use that number for each roll, unless there's a more specific skill to use for it. In my case, I have Hostile 0, which is a number that ye use specifically for tryin' to impress me. Go ahead, try and change my attitude. Ye use yer MP bonus for tha' contest." While Trek waits for you to roll, he adds, "oh, and a 'contest' is just when ye roll d20, add an attribute bonus, an' compare it to another contest. Opponents always roll 10 on their contests, so to change my attitude ye must beat my Hostile 0 + 10, which is 10."

You roll an MP contest. Your d20 shows 5, and you add your MP bonus of 2, for 7 total.

"I win. Tha' means yer contest is a Con: lower than mine. A Pro would be higher than mine. So, I don't have to change my attitude toward ye. What's more, is now it's my turn!"
