About
EAMODOS is a role-playing game that leverages internet technology to enhance old-fashioned RPG basics, like character sheets, dice, and the written word. These elements come together to form a web-accessible game that anyone can play and anyone can design.
Its name is a portmanteau of "Eamon" and "Modos." The Wonderful World of Eamon is the 1980s computer game that inspired the style of
EAMODOS. Modos RPG is the game that provides most of the basic rules for playing
EAMODOS. Some say that the name is also tied to
an old legend.
To play EAMODOS, you need a web browser, dice, and a character sheet. You play by clicking through hyperlinks, reading about the entities in the game, rolling dice to determine outcomes, and using your character sheet as a reference and to take notes. A game of EAMODOS can be very much like a solo-RPG, with the player acting as a character and as the game master.
The game's hub is a fictional, medieval guild hall, where players create and equip characters, interact with other players, and choose quests to undertake. Despite the guildhall's setting, the quests can take place anywhere and anytime, because anyone can write a new quest that is limited only by that person's imagination.
