Blood and Guts II

Well, I'm trying to get some work done, so I haven't bought my copy just yet.

The idea of more generic, flexible advanced classes [compared to B&F 1.0] has grown on me. And the preview looks pretty spiffy, too.

Anyone read it and care to comment?

Indeed I did.

(Edits name of thread)

And I got my work done, and downloaded B&G over lunch.

Glad to see Communications Operations and Parajump eliminated [or more accurately, absorbed into other skills]. Only so many skills points to go around.

More comments later...

Besides the classes, I did try to address the issue of feat/skill inflation. I'm interested to see what people think of it, I certainly think this new edition is a lot more flexible and I'm enjoying working on it.

I'm curious...will there be a followup product that talks about the various Spec Op forces and relates them to the revised mechanics?

For example...explaining that the Delta Force has lots of Assault Training and Gunslinger types, the Navy SEALs all have Amphibious Assault Training, Green Berets may have a variety of Specialists on the team plus a Negotiator [as the intelligence sergeant] and maybe a Combat Medic or two...

I am working on a special ops book right now, although I wasnt planning on breaking it down like that, rather giving histories and minimum requirements to be a part of a special ops unit.

Ive given it a quick read and *DO* think its an inprovement. I am a tad dissapointed that some templates didnt make it into this product. I really wanted to see SFOD Delta, Army SpecFor, and some of the other Elite Units get a template treatment. Something you could snap on to the prestige classes presented to represent the admission into one of these elite units and the training which accompanies it. That would have been extremely cool. Still, B&G is one of my favorite treatments of the military.

Im working on Blood and Guts: USSOCOM right now, and other unit books will follow. One thing we're doing with BNG II is more products, but smaller, to give us more flexibility.

In other words I can work on smaller BNG books while also writing adventures for the Dispatch and/or adventure for the Legends fantasy series, both of which I am committed to.

My mental plan, is a Special Ops unit book (which I am writing right now) and then the Combat Procedures Manual (an update of the popular optional rules section of the original BNG).

I think I found some mistakes (sorry really didn't want to, maybe it is just me...)

p2:"We will beat back the forces of General Fjoder Fortunatov and remove his rogue government from exile." (flavour text) Maybe it's just my shaby english (and the fact that i didn't sleep since 36h), but the "remove from exile" sounds just wrong.
p4: the flavour text on the units, from level Coy up you always refer to the 2IC as the NCO, but isn't that the 2nd commander? (don't know the US terms) With us the Coy will have a captain, lt and NCO as command cell, but the lt is 2IC.
Maybe just my interpretation, but I find it hard to believe that a Brigade has a CSM as 2IC (i mean absolutly no offence to all the NCOs out here)
p5: in tabel 1-1, on first level the assaulter would get voice of command, but the text gives as first class feature "tough as nails", what sounds more logical to me.
Oops just found out that the whole table is the leadership table, copy-paste error i guess.

That was it for now, maybe i'm just nitpicking. But i'm to tired to sleep and have to do something...

I was told by friends who've already got their copies that they like it alot, i will also like it, but now i'm just finishing the book (on my tempo)

btw: thx vig for the great work done and still doing
