Lodoss War...

Perhaps give all sorcerors the ability to memorize some spells as a wizard can if they choose (arcane preparation feat?) since there are a few rare tomes and spellbooks from ancient Kastuul I believe.

I think a prestige class for knights could be needed, but should it be a 10-level prc or more(I am thinking 15-20 levels, as most knights don't stop progressing as knights.) A pity that 3e dragonlance isn't out yet, as they probably would have something for the solamnic knights we could convert.

Is anyone saving these notes for an actual conversion or is it all just talking abut Lodoss? I just don't want all this info go to waste. :)

Since the topic should be staying high on the board, I think we just need to copy and paste. On another note, should all spellcasters suffer spell failure for casting in armor? I've noticed a lack of armor on the spellcasters, either not wearing any, or wearing very light armor that doesn't cover the arms.

I though Cavaliers were mounted combat specialists. The term knight may have traditionally referred to mounted riders and such, but the knights of flaim rarely ride in combat(I think parn might have done so once though.), but are instead strong fighters and masters of the sword that uphold the ideals of knights, so I don't think cavaliers will work. I'm thinking basing the knight class off one of the solamnic knight classes at dl3e.com

There were no orders of Mounted Knights in Lodoss, unless you want to count the Dragon Riders (who weren't really "knights", but scouts). There's really no need at all for a Knight class, since we already have something to re-create knights in the core rules.

It's called the Fighter class.

If you are going to do a PrC, then do it for a specific ORDER or ORGANIZATION, not just "knights in general". PrCs for the Holy Knights of Lodoss or the Dragon Riders would be fine as 10-level classes (probably even better STILL as 5-level classes), but Parn is better represented by levels of Fighter than anything else.

Once again, with feeling:
Check out the "Knight Protector of the Great Kingdom" PrC in Sword and Fist.

Take that class as a base, replace the Ride skill requirement with ranks in Diplomacy, and the Mounted Combat feat requirement with Iron Will (mounted combat is firtually non-existent in any of the Manga, novels, etc). Then, remove the free Iron Will feat at 2nd level, and give the class the Paladin's Divine Grace at 4th level, and voila!

Holy Knight of Lodoss PrC!

Of course each order will get it's prestige class, and I agree with Parn being a fighter, but what about those like Spark, who is too much unlike a mercenary to still be in the fighter class, but hasn't become a true knight yet. I am thinking the Samurai class from OA(Tweaked a bit so dishonor is not given to those who lose their swords, and they can start with a new sword, and can only upgrade one blade, and a different code of honor), as both it and the fighter class are battle specialists, but the Samurai of OA, like Lodossian knights, have powerful weapons at high levels, that are rarely changed, and represent higher-ranking and lawful members of society, from powerful families, with a code of honor, and exist alongside the fighter class, which is used for mercenaries.

The Frenzied Berzerker makes an excellent prestige class for Orson, considering those moments he has in both the OVAs, and the TV series of having Shiris talking him down (with varied degrees of success) from his berzerker frenzy.

What about deities? I am thinking Good, Healing, Earth, and Creation(DotF prestige domain)for Marfa, but unsure about the others(Other then Barbas having death, Kardis with destruction, Myrii having war, and alignment-caused domains.)
