Shadowrun: For Us It Was a Tuesday [OOC]

I'd have to brush up a little and also check my workload, so my answer right now is a simple maybe while I look through some of my rulebooks. But if I could, would you like a short one-shot game or a longer story interconnected by several smaller missions? What city would you like to play in?

Maybe is a good start. :)

We could try a single scenario at first...give everyone a chance to ease into the system and their characters. Then we'd have an option to renew at the conclusion of the run if we all were still into it.

One nice thing about Shadowrun is that it's usually really easy to transition between 'one shot' and 'connected campaign.' You can run it kind of like X-Files, with some runs being connected by a larger plot, and some runs just being 'job of the week' one-shots.

If we really want magical realism, then the game should be set in a location with which the DM is intimately familiar. That's why I selected Indianapolis for one of my games. That choice has helped me really "feel" what's going on in the game.

DT I love the way you do little chapters that all connect together. So I vote small mission / one shot to start. Of course I wouldn't want this game to impinge on our other game ;)

Information overload! Most of you guys know me pretty well, what kind of character would you suggest for me, knowing I haven't played Shadowrun before?

The simplest sort of character to play in Shadowrun is a combat specialist. You have to keep track of gear, but that can be as simple or as complex as you want to make it, depending on what you get. :)

Conversely, a mage or technomancer would be the hardest, because they have several unique rulesets that apply only to them.

So naturally I'm considering a technomancer or mage. ;)

A physical adept is probably the flat out easiest to run with, in terms of rules complexity. No cyberware or bioware, no spells, no Matrix jiggery. Just a few passive magical bonuses to stats, and a whole lotta guns. :)
