OOC: Karok says we should head to G10, and set up the ambush there. It's far enough along the path that they should get there fast enough to catch them, but far enough away from the dwarves to keep them from getting involved.

Karok sees this as an opportunity to take charge. "Agreed," he says, standing. "We go through the mountains and head south, as the little one said. I will help us cross the river. Let us move out, now, before too much time passes. We will make a plan for the ambush when we see the area."

With that, he heads off. The others can follow or be left behind.

“What if we took the actual river south?” Drutha asked. “It would be faster than walking, and less exposed in the open country. How navigable is the river?” She watched the orc walk off and shook her head.

Mom also shakes her head. "Maybe if you combine him," she nods toward Karok, "with him," she gives Ripnek a couple quick pokes with her stick. "Look alive, the party's starting without you," she grumbles down toward the bugbear.

Then she adds one last comment directed to everyone who remains:

"Remember: three strikes. Let the dark take them."

OOC: The mountain-dwellers know that the river is too rocky to navigate in the mountains; none of you are that familiar with it in the more open area.

"Eh?" Ripnek protests as Mom pokes him. "Ripnek is alive!"

When the bugbear realizes Karok is already on the move, he gets up quicker than seems possible for such a big lazy oaf. "He's starting without us! After him!" Ripnek moves to follow the orc, looking back only once to see if the rest are following but moving on regardless.

Saashala watched the antics of the others, already feeling a little weary. She was going to have to work hard to keep these in line. Fortunately Karok was proving useful as a taskmaster. He probably fancied himself as having power with his headstrong attempt to seize the initiative. But they were on the course she'd laid for them, regardless of how the ambush was set and executed. This was satisfactory.

She gave 'mom' another look. It was very likely there were others being gathered even now. Either to operate on other fronts, or to be held in reserve should they fail. Let the dark take them.

The yuan ti understood that there were different kinds of fear. The sharp fear born of immediate danger was one. By far worse was the slow corrosive fear that sprang from the nameless and unknown. The first could be useful, provoking the victim to decisive action. The second was a poison that infected its victim with despair, sapping their will to go on. The dark.

With a curt nod, Saashala turned and followed in the path of the others at a brisk walk. The others couldn't start without her, but there was some need for haste, after all. The caravan was coming and they had to be ready for it.

Nert watched the exchange, amused at the power struggle. He waited until everyone had left then took up the rear, ensuring thier trail was covered.

Putting the strange glass into his pouch, Moon Moon took one last squint at the "mom" thing before skittering after the others. He would mostly keep quiet and to the back of the group, mostly muttering to himself.

When the moon is next overhead some of his words, in draconic, might be discernible to others. He peers towards the sky with a smile on his reptilian face.

[sblock=Draconic]"I travel with the drogbar now. We set trap. You ever hear of dark candle? Is it a bad thing?"[/sblock]

OOC: OK, so I'll assume you head straight for the river at K-3 unless someone has a more elaborate plan.

Is anyone scouting ahead? Or just falling in behind Karok?

(Karok, you can navigate fine once you reach the mountains, but if you're leading through the woods section I'm going to ask for a Survival roll.)
