So his last 4 d20's were a 20, 18, 20, & 20 - three crits in three rounds...very very un-Ashir like...meanwhile Kane has been firing blanks so I guess the site is rebalancing things...

OOC: Dante's just failed 5 saves vs unconsciousness in a row. It's definitely balanced.

[sblock=ooc] lol At least Dante is not feeling any pain :) Ashir had a terrible low-roll streak going at one point in the adventure Trapped in Hell's Basement as I recall. ;)

IronSky seems to like fragile characters. His mage in another adventure is currently dieing and without surges :) also, the chance for this long streak is about 3% only. Bad streak indeed. Maybe you should try ENW dice?
It's 1 / (2^5) = 1 / 32

It's even lower than that. The chance of failing a save is 9/20, not 10/20, since you succeed on a 10. So the chance of this happening is (9/20)^5, which is less than 2%.[/sblock]

Add to that chance of a miss on initial attack and we get the final number :)

OOC: Mal, I've re-read some powers and abilities of a shaman as I seem to forget the details regularly.

I found that there is no mention of 'you cannot reduce this damage in any way' for SC disruption. (I have october CB update)

Contrast to the wording of the Paladin Blood of the Mighty power effect.
Effect: You take 5 damage, which can’t be reduced in any way.

If that is true, then nementah has 8hp more and may even not go down this round :D

In that same thread it is stated explicitely that SC DOES NOT get any resistances as they are not defenses per se. So, Primera has no resist 4, but it applies to Nementah taking damage.

OOC: You might be thinking about someone else's mage. My other character is a Warforged Battlerage Vigor Fighter - don't get much tougher than that(edit: Not sure he won't be destroyed in the fight he's in anyway, however). My next character is probably going to be a mage though.

[sblock=Dante]I actually forgot to roll for the last two CDGs. I did roll the first.

I think that's a bad habit from 3e. I am pretty sure you didn't roll for CDG in 3E (but then, it was a full round action that provoked an attack of opportunity).

vs AC 19 1: 2nd CDG (dmg 16) 2: 3rd CDG (dmg 11) (1d20+10+2=17, 1d20+10+2=15)

Both hit due to -5 to defense.

I am puzzled because I didn't just rule that DR didn't apply on a whim. When it occured, I rechecked the spirit companion rule and I could swear there were no mention of the word damage in regard to the backlash from losing a companion. It was something like : ''You lose hit points''. That's why I ruled DR didn't apply.

But now I check the compendium and the word damage is bold as day and you are correct that DR should apply.

Either I was sleepwalking when I read the first time of there was some sort of stealth errata since then. 3e was famous for that kind of thing in the early days but that'd be the first I hear of for 4e so I am 50/50 on which explanation is correct.

Either way, you get 8 hp back.[/sblock]

Martial Power said:
In situations where you can’t command your beast
companion, it can act independently. For example, if
you’re unconscious or dead or if you aren’t present in
an encounter, your beast companion doesn’t necessarily
sit around waiting for you to show up, unless that’s
what you want it to do.
A beast companion acting independently can take
a standard action, a move action, and a minor action
on each of its turns, as a character can. You choose
the beast’s actions, with one restriction: If your
character is present in the encounter but incapable
of commanding the beast, it must move as far as it
can toward you each round on its turn, choosing the
safest route possible. Once adjacent to you, the beast
companion can act in any manner you wish.

A bit late to retcon all these rounds of inactivity but I'll make him attack the Swordmage for this turn.

Virgil vs Swordmage (1d20+8=11, 1d8+3=6) miss

[sblock=Renquist]What is that Forced shift business that allowed you to stand up and shift in the just one move? Not an issue since the attacked missed but I want to know if you have a power that allows you to do that because I see none.[/sblock]

Behold the might of the master wizard Ashir! Enemies fall like wheat before the scythe of his magic. The tides turn as the powerful shard monster and an archer fall to the fiery creations of the wizard.

On the other end of the field, things are perilous but stabilizing, looking up even.

-''Uh... Hey Nementah, thanks for covering me. Now, could you step aside?'' says Ibram, finally back to the land of the living.

OOC: Nementah: Several people could trigger your power this turn. All of them, really; the two maniac, the scimitar dudes and the goon. None are attacking you though.

[sblock=Action]
Ibram save (1d20=14) Ibram's save from previous turn.
