MV: Threats to the Nentir Vale in my hands

Thank u guys for the info!

I'm interested in knowing more about the Twig Blights, Barrowhaunts, and The Cadaver Collector. Does it still have the ability to increase it's AC by impaling/adding creatures to its armor?

I've heard this MV has no adventure.

But from what I'm hearing there's enough fluff with each entry to easily make them. How do you guys feel about that?

And on the mechanics side, any info on the Math? HP formulae, attack damage per level per role, etc.?

Thanks again,

~Teo

No monster math and as I said, as far as I can tell the only change is that brute solos are getting more HP. The Cadaver Collector doesn't have any way to raise it's defenses, but it loves grabbing and impaling PCs on itself.

Not sure what else to say about the Barrowhaunts. They're a group of 5 former adventurers who got cursed to roam the Gray Downs. There's stat blocks for humanoid controller, lurker, skirmisher, brute, and elite soldier that'd be easily reskinable for a nice encounter at around level 8.

The Twig Blights are small low-level fey plant-creatures that hang out throughout the Vale, in particular the Witchlight Fens. There's a level 1 minion, a level 2 lurker, a level 3 soldier, and a level 5 brute swarm. Looks like pretty fun little guys to add into a dungeon or wilderness encounter.

I was very glad to see the return of the Corpse Collector, just in time for my Eberron game :D

Was totally stoked when i was looking at the cover, and noticed the litte brown things hiding around the bottom. "Twig blights...?" i thought and sure enough, there are twig blights! The Sunless Citadel is definitely making a return as a Dhaakani ruin in my game now! I think i may populate it with the Kech Uul clan... poor Meepo.

Tell me more about the Daggerburg Goblins and the Tigerclaw Barbarians!

The Daggerburg Goblins are a group near Harkenwold that favor ambushing. They have the most new monsters of any entry, with 11 new stat blocks for goblins, hobgoblins, and bugbears. Higher level goblins than are found in the MV, with goblins going up to level 5, hobgoblins up to 7, and bugbears up to 8. And there's some named ones that're higher than that. I particularly like the Mistmane Bugbears, Large bugbears obsessed with the black arts.

The Tigerclaw Barbarians are my favorite fluff entry of the ones I've read (I digest monster manuals very slowly, so I've pretty much only closely read what I've posted about). They highlight what's definitely my favorite new region of the Nentir Vale that's emphasized in this book - the Winterbole Forest. If anyone's been inspired by the beyond-the-wall region of the Game of Thrones series of books, the Winterbole Forest is right up your alley. The barbarian tribe is made up of shifters and humans who tame sabertooth tigers and ride them into battle.

The Winterbole Forest is also home to some mean treants, Bitterstrike, and the Frost Witches.

Glad to hear they turned out well. I liked them enough to give them an important spotlight in Bitterstrike's story. While I don't recall A Game of Thrones being an inspiration behind these guys, GRRM is my hero.

I'd give you XP, but alas--I'm all out!
