The character stuff talks about "selecting" your personality traits, bonds, etc.; does that preclude free-form entry for those? (For that matter, what about gender, given that much-discussed language about other options...?)

Personality traits, bonds, flaws and ideals will be completely customizable. In its current form, DungeonScape has you select from a list of suggested traits but we're looking at rolling in customization during char create instead of once you're in the character sheet. Gender is whatever you want it to be not a drop down, an empty field that you can customize however you'd like.

1. There will be some content available at no cost. DungeonScape will be free to download and we'll give you enough of a taste of player and DM tools to decide how you want to move forward. From there, we'll have something available at every level. A la carte, bundle, SUPER bundle. More details as soon as we're able.

2. Yes, you will own the material. We will never take anything you've paid for away - you will always have access to it.

3. Robust as hell You can create on a macro level or a micro level - build some monsters, assign stats, then some traps. Add traps to a map you've made, then maybe you add some adventure text. Keep building and you've got a whole campaign.

The rulebooks will absolutely be available through DungeonScape and will be fully integrated with the programming of the app i.e., I want the red dragon in my adventure - I drag and drop said red dragon into my adventure with all stat blocks, HP, etc.

Although we can't comment on PDFs and what WotC will make available that way, DungeonScape is the digital version of 5e D&D. DungeonScape character sheets will be exportable to PDF to print.

Thanks for the info Hobo, so please confirm the entire rulebooks that I purchase in DS will be able to sit down and read, in App/browser, in exactly the same way I can sit down and read a PDF on my electronic device or physical book. I am not asking if all the content will be there but I like reading rule books, that's how I learn the rules too, so I want to be able to sit down and read the DMG (for example) cover to cover. I can do this on DS?

I obviously wasn't very clear with my question, and should have been. Sorry about that.To wit: I have a PC running Windows 7. That's it. No laptop, no tablet, no smartphone. And I know zip, zero, zilch about apps. So my question is, with all that in mind, will I be able to use DungeonScape if I bought it, or not? Yes, this is a serious question, as I'm barely computer literate.

Hey there! Yes, with your PC running Windows 7, you will absolutely still be able to use DungeonScape if you choose to. My guess is that the most you'd get out of the app would be in The Forge release to create your own custom content. As we move forward yes - there will be multi-classing options and a place to include your own backgrounds. Custom spells and custom classes will likely come in The Forge release!

Yes - you will be able to build custom maps for your custom world and then share said maps and worlds with your friends. This will happen in the Forge release!
