Also, did they include any rule to ensure there is no broken-ness with the Shield-Spell? (A wizard able to cast Shield 20-30x a day might make the "best tank" Asides from the Eldritch knight who could cast it 10x but still wears Plate and reaches gigantic AC then 10 rounds per day). In our group we already nerfed Shield to only affect one attack, and even then our main GM is worried that he can only offer the Spellpoint optional rule if he nerfs Shield even further.

I don't see why would shield make the wizard the best tank. It only grants +5 AC, it wastes a reaction and he has still low hit points and none of the fighter's abilities. Eldritch knight seems more interesting, but even that doesn't seem to be that dire.

Give him Con 14 and the +2 HP/lvl Feat and that's fixed. Though admitted Shield is not the only issue with AC. Magic Armor with > +1 is an issue as well (until now we assumed no armor with bigger plus than +1 would exist, and even that would be pretty rare which worked quite well - but it seems with Armor+Shield combinations now +5 is possible, even if only in highlevel). Playing an Eldritch Knight character myselves and even with spell slots I had those discussions with the GM about nerfing Shield sometimes (his current version of the shield-nerf only works on one attack, he was considering to nerf it further that you have to say if you use it before he said what dice-roll he had, but he admitted this might make it an unfun mechanic if sometimes it would be wasted on a missing attack). We generally only have one fight per day, sometimes 2 (yes, this might be some of the issue, but our playstyle prefers not to overdo it with fights and have more RP-scenes).

And the fighter has still more HP and probably AC too, without the need to waste a reaction...

I am pretty sure you will be able to see my point that characters with 21+ AC EVERY combat round are "too indistructible" (add in Haste and we are at AC 23). And thanks to mage armor the fighter NEVER will have more AC, actually never even the same. The fighter will have AC 18 or 20 (1H or 2H, and as 1H+Shield is boring to play probably AC 18). With the Spell Slots it is still playable, but with the Spellpoints - unless they have some special rule to prevent problems here, even I - who likes to use the Shield spell myselves ^^ - sees problems here.

Thank you for the infos Nicosandros!

I have two questions: 1) Can you explain the variants of slower natural healing/resting rules and 2) Does the trade (like alchemist or herbalist) described more thoroughly (ex. are there alchemical items or something that would rule about alchemy?).

Sure about this? If 1st is 2 and 3rd is 3, what about 2nd, then? Same like 1st?

Are there higher health potions than the ones from Rise of Tiamat BTW?

Thanks in advance.

Maybe.. but after using the reaction, the wizard can just stand around doing nothing while you ignore him for the rest of the turn...

If this really proves problematic, Just don´t let the shield spell stack with a shield. So it is equal to a +3 shield in effectiveness. In normal circumstances, you can´t use shield and shield spell at the same time because of the free hand requirement.

A high-level wizard can already cast shield at will. It doesn't seem to destroy the game.

I would say that is the issue, the game isn't balanced for 1 fight a day. I would think that if the DM is going to do that then they need to up the difficulty level because you are going to throw everything you have at it without having to worry more encounters later (or at most 2 in a day).
Nothing wrong with your play style the DM just needs to adjust the encounters to reflect that there is only 1 per day.

Not just difficulty, but class balance as well. If you're only having 1 or maybe 2 encounters per day, barbarians, wild shaping druids, and warlocks will outshine most other classes by a significant margin.
