D&D 5E Monte Cook Leaves WotC - No Longer working on D&D Next [updated]

Woo. though main drawback is usually "you don't change horses midriver". But if you dont like where the horse is going, sometimes it's better to swim. And I didn't like where Cook was going. Either going back to simple "i full attack" fighters and complex wizards or mentioning fixing things...

[4th ed] Clockwork Horrors now DEMONS? And Neogi...

I don't really know why decisions today need to be constrained by a setting that's been out of print for years and created by a company that no longer exists. Getting caught up in continuity issues is one of the main reasons I stay away from the major comic lines. Demons are corrupted...

    Clarification on Superior Cover

Well there is also the Assassin power shade form. Which specially allows you to use the cover and concealment of allies to become and remain hidden. It also allows you to use any sort of cover and concealment to become and remain hidden as well. But I don't see a problem with your poistion, I...

    Clarification on Superior Cover

Except it says You cant hide behind allies under the heading for Remaining Hidden. Keep Out of Sight: If you no longer have any cover or concealment against an enemy, you don’t remain hidden from that enemy. You don’t need superior cover, total concealment, or to stay outside line of sight...

    Infinite damage at level 1

Except it breaks the rules on page 267 Free action: free actions take almost no time or effort. you can take as many free actions as want durign your turn or another combatant's turn. The DM can restrict the number of free actions in a turn.

    Infinite damage at level 1

*Looks at 4e forum and sees claim about infinite damage at lvl 1* *clicks on it just to see what tortured reading of rules is required to pull off the exploit* Good job OP not only does your "exploit" require you to stretch RAW thinner than carbon nanotubes but also to out right ignore parts of...

    Assassin Shrouds on Minions

Think of it like the shroud power adds a Miss entry on your attack. Miss: deal n-1 shroud damage. and since minions ignore miss effects, they take no damage.

    Shadow Darts Crit?

Musings on Skill Challenges (or: Three Questions You Should Ask Before You Run One)

Personally I like skill challenges. They help me structure the narrative but I think they should really be a "behind the curtains" thing, announcing skill challenge time usually heralds a mediocre experience. I have had a mixed bag regarding skill challenges. Good: The PCs were involved in...

    Dragon Controller article up

Link:Dungeons & Dragons Roleplaying Game Official Home Page - Article (Controllers) I like the advice part. Though I don't know if I agree with the "implement users tend to miss more than weapon guys" I know it can come up with elite brutes (fort defense higher than AC) but the math works most...

    Winning races:tiefling is up

Diabolic transformation reminds me WoW's warlock skill metamorphosis. very flashy but ultimately doesn't change play a whole lot. The regeneration is the exception because that is very sexy but the +damage and encounter power is alright for being a daily.

    Revised Monk Available in Compendium

Oh so that's what happened, thanks. The axe entry on the double scimitar was driving me nuts. Also, Ding dong, the bloodclaw's dead, the bloodclaw's dead. Ding dong, the wicked claw is dead. (and recklessness) If nothing else, this will keep the ranger from killing himself faster than what the...

    Winning races:tiefling is up

Link here:http://www.wizards.com/DnD/Article.aspx?x=dnd/drfe/20091117 Overall, I like it. My first character I played for 4e was a tiefling paladin, wish I had that multi-marking power then (or any multi-mark). I also like the alternatives for infernal wraith. since some classes don't pump...

"Syndrome" Syndrome: or the Fallacy of "Special"

Er, You do know that self control and sometimes yearning for a normal life are common themes in comics right? Superman lives in a world made of cardboard ( obligatory youtube link:YouTube - World of Cardboard) and loves being Clark Kent. His deepest desire? Living on a farm with wife Lois and...

"Syndrome" Syndrome: or the Fallacy of "Special"

Huh? two people had that position. Dash, a petulant child who just got told "No", and Syndrome, the mego-maniacal supervillian. Not the best vectors to deliver a message. Dash's problem was that he lacked self-control (like any other kid, really) and failed to realize that his actions had...
