    So is it fun?

We played 4e for the first time on saturday, doing a test fight and then the first part of Keep on the Shadowfell. Seems to be reallly fun, and I <3 my halfling rogue, who is a sneaky little death dealer. Definitely makes low level combat much more fun and tactically interesting.

DM refuses to switch; players want to

I agree 100%. If my group wanted me to run Palladium for them I would do it, rather than leave a group of good friends and roleplayers I've been with for 10 years. The goal of the game is to get together and have some fun. The system doesn't make that happen, people do.

DM refuses to switch; players want to

As a player/DM, I would happily play 3.5 forever, even though I prefer what I've seen of 4e. But I hope to never, ever DM 3.x again. I would if that's what people wanted to play, but luckily, my group is pretty keen on switching... For the OP, any one player or DM who puts system preference...

    Remembering third editions release

Ah yes, I recall all of the 'monks are broken!111' threads. Good times. And thanks for putting some of the vitriol into perspective.

    Neat Little Gamist Rulesy Things

I'm glad that there are finally good rules for moving people around when you have them grappled... and the grapple rules are still much shorter.

    Amazon shipped my books

Ordered the giftbox from Amazon US in March, the same day that the first post here landed about it being available. My order currently says that the *shipping estimate* is June 10th. Odd, since so many others are saying that their delivery estimate is then... And I no longer buy the idea...

Stay back! The joy of OAs.

Er, I thought that reach weapons no longer grant Opportunity Attacks at reach, only in adjacent squares..? Don't get me wrong, the fighter rocks, but I don't think you can keep people at bay like this.

Anyone from the United states get shipping info from Amazon yet?

I placed my order on Amazon for the giftbox a long time ago, right when it first appeared. My order says that its estimated shipping date is 6/10. Suck. :(

    Move though an enemy space?

In 4e you can slide or move through the corner of an enemy's space. If you slide, you do not provoke. You cannot move through the corner of a space that has a pillar or statue or some similar permanent structure.

Has Point Buy become standard? What Points?

L: Yes, it costs two points to buy that lone eight up to a ten, afterwhich you can pay the default cost to up it to something else. Pabloj: Actually, you're right. It *doesn't* say that the first option is the default, its simply listed as "Method 1."

New Critical Hits... good or bad?

I love it. Reduces the swinginess of criticals, while also eliminates the oddities of earlier versions in which sometimes a character could never hit a target... except for when they critted (or threatened to). :6: / :6:

    First rule I don't like

I agree with you completely... I just don't like it when PCs 'decide' to be merciful after the fact, when it becomes suddenly convenient for them to do so. If killing is intentional, then sparing lives should be as well, I think. Besides, some PCs would take the 'merciful' approach as a way...

    First rule I don't like

...I'm holding a good friend's 4e phb right now, and it kicks unholy arse. This thing looks super fun, and I can't wait to play. That said, I don't like the new rules for knocking an enemy unconscious. Basically, whoever delivers the blow that drops someone to 0 or fewer can decide whether or...

Has Point Buy become standard? What Points?

    The default stat generation is now the standard array: 16, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10. Second method listed is point buy. 22 points, starting scores are: 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 8. 9-14 cost 1 per, 15 costs 7, 16 costs 9, 17 costs 12, 18 costs 16. Third method listed is 4d6, drop lowest. (I know a...

    Dying to Know

I like this rule, personally, although I'm pretty sure its only for the minis game.
