    Condition Tracks and Damage Thresholds

As far I've been able to determine, most people don't like Death spirals. I've suggested in a few other places that when somebody is reduced to under 0 hitpoints, they suffer a reduction in their maximum hit points, and to their maximum hit dice. In 4e, I used this, and it required significant...

    Alternative to Vancian / AEDU

Seems very reminiscent of the reserve feats from late 3.5. I like it, but too annoying to track, frankly.

    Wizards and Armor

I fully support wizards casting in armour, as long as they've taken the appropriate training, and meet the pre-requisites. I like the idea of somatic components in casting, but not to the point where armour would restrict them.

The (Non-)Playtest Experience, or How the Hit Die Mechanic was a Non-Starter

Since I have been playing DnD, which was 1988, I have never encountered (in the flesh) somebody who really believed hit points represented physical tolerance to damage. It was explained to me, by my first DM, that the only serious hit you would likely take was the one that put you down. That was...

Questions from our sessions (updated for 9/7 session)

I though I had replied to this before. For Question 22, I've ruled in 4e, and likely will in 5e, that poison, radiant, necrotic and (in 5e) magic missile, can only affect things with an Animus.

In the heat of battle, is hit point loss a wound?

This is why 4e moved diseased and poisons to event tracks, for the most part, and its probably my favourite method of dealing with them.

Magic Vs AC is Very Poor Reasoning

I think the idea you can resist any sort of energy based attack with will or faith or disbelief is ridiculous. More ridiculous than indestructible armour and weapons, even.

    Alternatives to At-Will Magic

Prestidigitation and Mage Hand are spells I would consider to be always available. A wizard feels a LOT more wizard-y, in my experience, with those spells on-hand. Light, I couldn't give two hoots about. Depends on the flavouring my players want. Some of them will want it to have a material...

In the heat of battle, is hit point loss a wound?

There are two blows I narrate as significant, The one that introduced (in 4e) a bloodied condition, and that would usually be a minor scrap, cut or crush, and the blow that drops the monster, which could be significant or not, depending on whether it dropped it to over -10, or just below 0...

    D&D 5E I Don't Like Damage On A Miss

It breaks no more disbelief than operating off a single dice roll, to determine whether or not you land a blow in 6 seconds of time.

    D&D 5E I Don't Like Damage On A Miss

Dodge? Maybe. Speed is not accuracy. Speed is not flexibility or control. Information Processing is intelligence and wisdom. Speed is its own statistic. Dexterity is representative of control, flexibility, accuracy and reactions.

    D&D 5E I Don't Like Damage On A Miss

Superhuman speed has nothing to do with Dex.

    D&D 5E I Don't Like Damage On A Miss

You really haven't captured the nature of HP, I think. It is not just AC which should be reflected from such speed. HP would also be reflected.

    1 Minute Duration Spells

I don't understand that. No rule can cover all edge-cases. This is how you get ridiculously complex legalese, because every known hole has to be covered. Which leaves no wiggle room for customisation or flavour changes. So, its not broken. Croesus wants to not have to track it. He makes a...
