5 rpgs I would take to a deserted island.

    1. D&D Rules Cyclopedia 2. Hackmaster 3. Call of Cthulhu (any edition) 4. Talislanta (any edition) 5. Risus - can't really count since it's so easy to learn/memorize, but I don't feel like adding some hybrid of HoL and Fantasy Wargaming to start some evil cult on the island....

How many sessions does it take for your group to complete an "adventure"?

Most modules for me take 1 or 2 sessions. Some of the modules were designed to be two-parters, to begin with. I can deal with a campaign mod (B10 Night's Dark Terror) taking multiple sessions, but I did have one of the AEG $2.99 mini-modules last almost three sessions. So much for two...

    Campaign plans

For every campaign I've run, I set up a few logical scenarios, and then let things go as they may. I've got a big enough pool of ideas/adventures that I can adapt and overcome if the PCs blow up everything I have planned.

    Zombies!!! Anyone played it?

Zombies!!! is a fantastic game, although my experience with the expansions is less than desirable. I'd stick to the basic game and and the card only expansions.

    Favorite 2e modules?

After reviewing the 2nd edition list, Shattered Circle is it. I've still got a pile of Basic D&D, 1e, and Judges Guild stuff that I've never touched.

    Hows your Campaign going?

My Hackmaster campaign is in a 6-week hiatus, as people are going through a flurry of weddings, bridal showers, and family functions (culminating in my cruise to Bermuda next week). However, the first story arc was completed in time and it's at a great point to regroup, rest up, and pick up...

What do you carry your stuff in when going to a game?

Way back in the day... an actually stolen mikl crate. Upgraded to a collapsable crate with a retractable handle... Nowadays, it's a nice Eddie Bauer shoulder bag my wife got for me for Christmas... Gotta go fill it up right now for this afternoon's game. :D

Wizards of the Coast/Kenzer & Company License Agreements Expiring

And from what Jolly and Dave have said, they won't be taking A&8 Combat directly into HM-5. Small portions, sure, but I can't imagine poker cards and chips in Hackmaster. :p

Wizards of the Coast/Kenzer & Company License Agreements Expiring

I would say yes and no. In Hackmaster the rounds are six seconds longs, so each segment is 6/10ths of a second long. However, in many cases once you complete your action either on 1 or on 9, you wait until the next initiative to take the next action. With A&E once intial initiative is...

Wizards of the Coast/Kenzer & Company License Agreements Expiring

I assumed it was going one, but like the good Colonel, I hadn't seen any comments posted/printed/written on a napkin. This warms the cockles of my heart, maybe even the sub-cockle area. Here's hoping that HM 5 takes on all the changes that A&8 updated (particularly Q&F and Skills) and...

What is your local game store situation?

There's one place about 30 minutes away (my now ex-comics shop since I decided to stop reading them). Selection is scant if it's not d20, besides a few expansions for Zombies! I picked up most of gaming from them when they were a dealer at local con. The other shop is another 20 minutes away...

List all of your character names! *read the instructions*

Considering my first 5 main PCs were fighters name Leif (I-V, with halfling companions named Bilbo I-V), I'll start with my Hackmaster campaign, since one of the players placed all the characters names on a T-shirt that I have next to me right now: Donovan Human Thief (M)...

How do you like your gnomes best?

In my campaign world, a mixutre of everything (tinkerers, illusionists, merchants). Mix in the Gnome Titans (Spartans on steroids) and Gnomelings (gnome/halfling kin who demonstrate the worst traits of both races) and the culture is pretty well fleshed out. It's their wuss god pantheon...

    HackMaster: The New Edition

But, but Little Keep is so much better than the original. :) Then again, the most memorable sessions for my players involved absolute crap 3rd party modules that I spent 30 minutes rewriting while sipping coffee at a diner. Plus I didn't see much funny stuff in Slaughterhouse Indigo or...

    Old PCs as NPCs

QFT Most of the PCs from my high school and army days played significant roles as NPCs in the game I ran in college. Some of the college PCs ascened into godhood in my Hackmaster campaign, others became rulers around the world, and others disappeared into obscurity. Now, my 2nd Hackmaster...
