So, there have been plenty of hints that this Campaogn will involve time travel or at least tuney-whimey Shennanigans, and theyvare still dancing around that, but they couldnhelp posting the following image of Kas and Vecna before Undeath, Mas on the left Vecna on the right with flowing locks:

I feel curiosity about the ultimate Kas' fate. He was a dark lord in Ravenloft, but also a vestige for the binder class (Dragon magazine #341), and later he ruled a vampire kingdom within the Shadowfell.
Shouldn't Kas' sword to become a powerful artifact?
What would happen with the living people from the domains of Tovag and Cavitius? Maybe a new dark lord would be chosen to replace the previous ones.
* What if there are variants of Vecna? Maybe these are some trick by the original one to cheat the Dark Powers.

It's a very interesting choice: very curious to see what they are actually doing in this book. Not sure if pre-Lich Vecna has really ever been touched upon before.

That's pretty clearly tge origin of the magic items, but Corum isn't the originator of the Hand and Eye, but a user.

The Sword of Kas first appears in 1976's "Eldritch Wizardry".
"Another item connected with the legend of the lich Vecna is the Sword of Kas, his onetime bodyguard. This sword is said to have a thin, grey blade of some metallic substance. Its powers are only dimly hinted at by legend, but Kas was said to be the mightiest swordsman of his age."
Gaining the Sword of Kas is a major plot point in the first adventure to feature Vecna, "Vecna Lives" from 1990.
(I haven't run the other Vecna adventures, so I'm less aware of whether it features).
