    D&D 5E Which class(es) won the PHB?

My order My initial order after reading the entire PHB a few times. This is very, very preliminary: Sorcerer > Wizard > Bard > Fighter > Barbarian > Warlock > Monk > Rogue > Cleric > Druid > Paladin > Ranger

    D&D 5E Ranger

We dont need time to tell if ranger spells will make them competitive. We have the spells right in front of us, in the PHB. We already know that ranger spells help, but they are not enough. Rangers, even with their spells, are fairly weak in 5.0 combat.

    D&D 5E Ranger

Rangers = meh Bought the new PHB a few days ago. In general I am a big ranger fan. I have read all the classes several times. My opinion on ranger: Meh. One of the weaker combat classes. Because of the ranger spells, definitely better with ranged weapons than melee weapons. Hunter >...

D&D 5E Is it just me or does it look like we are getting the "must have feats" once again?

Someone who knows the rules well, no matter what class they play, will find attacks that can kill/stun/charm/hold etc an opponent in the very first round, thus eliminating that opponent from the entire combat. If a wizard, as you mentioned, is the only class that has such potential, then the...

D&D 5E Is it just me or does it look like we are getting the "must have feats" once again?

Agreed I am definitely spotting some must-have feats. Alertness: +5 to initiative. Wow! Even better than Improved Initiative from D&D 3.0/3.5 In a turn-based game, the person who goes first has a big advantage. After all, your opponent cannot attack you if you have already killed them.

    Experience with Jedi

The problem with the stun setting on blasters is that the stun is automatic. You only have to hit your opponent. The saving throw is irrelevant. Stunning your opponent for one round is a huge advantage. In a group game, like SW RPG, one of your allies keeps stunning the opponent, and the...

    Experience with Jedi

Jedi are over-powered, especially at higher levels. A properly written 11th level Jedi, for example, using all the rules presented in all the official d20 SW RPG books, could kill any official SW RPG NPC. Did you know its possible for a Jedi to do 8d8 lightsaber damage? The right combination...

What do you not like about M&M?

I enjoy the system mechanics, although I find them somewhat simplistic. My biggest issue with M&M is the campaign setting. Specifically, I am referring to Freedom City. Inflammatory comments removed. - Henry

Hey Rangers! What is the *best* choice in Favoured Enemy?

In D&D 3.5, its undead. Not even worth arguing. There are simply too many kinds of undead to pick anything else. Undead are by far the most common type of monster in D&D. In D&D 3.0, its a much more difficult decision. I would lean towards aberrations. There are lots of those.

    Published Adventures and You

Its refreshing to see someone admit to this. I have been roleplaying for almost 20 years. I have played with many different DMs, and almost all published modules are better than the garbage my DMs create.

    Epic Forgotten Realms

I have been playing in an Epic FR campaign for several years. Here are some campaign ideas... 1. In the Throne of Bloostone modules, the heroes whack Orcus, and destroy his precious Wand. Orcus is back in 3rd edition D&D (and 3.5), so have Orcus either try for revenge, or try to take over the...

    Good PrC for a Ranger?

Ranger based PrCs, and the WoTC books they come from... Darkwood Stalker - Complete Warrior's Handbook Order of the Bow Initiate - Sword and Fist, Complete Warrior's Handbook Deepwood Sniper - Masters of the Wild Peerless Archer - Silver Marches (Forgotten Realms) Stalker of Tashid - Book of...

    Archer Prestige Classes

Stick to prestige classes from official WoTC material. 3rd party stuff, and stuff from fan-boy internet sites, are rarely balanced. The four big prestige classes for a D&D archer are: 1. Deepwood sniper, from the Masters of the Wild sourcebook. 2. Peerless Archer, from the Silver Marches...

    Dragon magazine is considered official!

Hehe. I am a trouble-maker. ;) I posted this topic at the official WoTC General D&D boards, and it is getting alot of responses. In fact, it has broken out into other threads. Here are all the relevant links, if you want to follow what everyone is saying...

    Dragon magazine is considered official!

Here is an example of what I am talking about... I find a spell in Masters of the Wild, and then I find a rule in Dragon magazine that completely changes what Masters of the Wild says about the spell. Which one do I follow? Which one is right? Both are now part of the official D&D rules-set...

    Dragon magazine is considered official!

My gaming group only uses the official rules and we try to use all the official rules. We run a tight ship, and we like it that way. Anyways, I digress. Spread the word...Dragon magazine, Polyhedron magazine and Star Wars Gamer are considered part of the official rules-set.

    Dragon magazine is considered official!

I sent an email to Customer Service at Wizards of the Coast, asking them if the rules that appear in Dragon Magazine, Polyhedron Magazine, and Star Wars Gamer magazine are considered part of the official ruleset for their respective games. Here is the response I received from WoTC Customer...

New Forgotten Realms adventures to be published

I have no idea why you just posted this. I guess you are trying to bump up your post count. I have three legitimate questions for Mr. Dancy: 1. How easy will it be to move these adventures from The Living City to another place in the Forgotten Realms? (Waterdeep, Calimport, Arabel, etc...)...
