I voted "Fixed" because it seems like the most reliable way to fix the two biggest issues I have with the newer editions of the game: (1) the player expectation of high ability scores, and (2) unbalanced math at higher levels. Roll and be done with it.

Or to put it another way, which would you rather have in a gun fight: a bolt-action rifle and 20 rounds, or an automatic handgun that never jams and never needs reloading?

For the most part it smells good. But I'm getting a sardine-like aroma from the at-will spells, high hit point values, and damage-no-matter-what stuff.

We are asking the wrong question. What we should be asking is: should the DM subtract hit points from a target regardless of the attack roll result?

I disagree. Magical healing has been the standard healing method of D&D, and all fantasy RPGs, for decades. If you want to play a low-magic (or no-magic) game setting, you should be able to...but such settings will be the exception and not the rule.

I think my favorite part is the "Did you win?" / "The moderators won't let me" options. In every edition war, someone inevitably blames the moderators for not letting them "win" an argument on the Internet.

B/X and BECMI for me. What can I say? I am old, and I'm set in my ways. Interesting poll. I am not surprised to see AD&D in the lead; of all of the editions it has the best history. It had the most interesting supplemental material of all of the other editions: Dark Sun, Menzoberranzan...
