D&D 5E Best AC in game (without using any armor)?

The Max AC is at level 20 maybe, but well above the average can be almost from level 1. As a DM I found AC to be a fairly simple element to deal with while still allowing he high defense PC to shine in that arena.

    D&D 5E Eberron 5e - What do we want?

While the artificer was a interesting class I don't think it's inclusion or removal from the setting would have any impact on the setting in 3e as the item creation feats already existed and made it cheap, quick and easy to enchant. So I don't need a class for this to make Eberon work. An...

D&D 5E Best AC in game (without using any armor)?

Unarmored defense and a blade singers dance I think stack. It requires 3 good stats though. With their magic it gets more absurd, shield, haste etc.

Latest D&D Survey Says "More Feats, Please!"; Plus New Survey About DMs Guild, Monster Hunter, Inqui

Would you give up additional attacks for these advanced maneuvers? IMO the 4 attacks fighters get really limited their sub classes range. I'd love a enhanced maneuver class but I can't see better maneuvers or a different system on the current fighter. Maybe if the maneuvers were once a turn for...

D&D 5E Berserker - How does it really compare to Totem Warrior?

It's not direct but if you can't see something even if you guess its location correctly you are at disadvantage to attack. It's surprising the range of creatures that can hide from you when your passive perception is dropped by 5. I suspect a DM might tack on disadvantage on quite a few tests...

    D&D 5E Eberron 5e - What do we want?

Not a mega dungeon. One too many of them. And two for me I don't think it fits the setting. The setting seemed smaller scale and more personal. More find the murderer, deal with guild business and not stop the end of the world. I'd have alternate rules for advancement that slowed advancement by...

D&D 5E Why don't Arcane Tricksters get access to Bigby's Hand?

Then play a rogue or potentially a dex based battle master fighter. Like I said there is nothing wrong with the rogue class but unlike other classes one of the primary conceptual frameworks in fantasy sneaky dude doesn't have much to do with the rogue. They get a couple perks at it but sneaky is...

D&D 5E What are the best ways to conceal an entrance/door with or without magic?

I just assumed the lich was a serial killer who killed hundreds with finger of death. I might be reading it wrong but comes back as a zombie under your control doesn't seem to have a time or numeric limit.

D&D 5E Why don't Arcane Tricksters get access to Bigby's Hand?

I think 2e had that. Too lazy to dig up my spell compendium but they had like a dozen bigby spells. Some pretty low level ones. I think he bigby atomic wedgied khelben backstaff or something because he has a handful of anti bigby spells.

D&D 5E Why don't Arcane Tricksters get access to Bigby's Hand?

Don't you need wizard 9? You might get spell slots for level 5 but wouldn't you need wizard 9 to be able to learn 5th spells and not just up cast lower level spells. Though when it comes to rogues I have to ask my players what is your character concept that requires that class? Will a...

D&D 5E Fear & Horror Checks in Curse of Strahd (or beyond)

Outside the just because of magic I have very rarely seen a story reason where this makes sense. Last week you just pile drived a dragon off a cliff this week you scream in horror because a dude wears a cape and has a bad accent. If you do it you kind of have to do it all the time otherwise it...

    D&D 5E Tavern Brawler + Rope/Hook... reach grapple?

I dont know. If the grappler was strong enough compared to the targets weight I'd let them do more than pull. Keep the person from closing sure, not mechanically knocked prone as that would require a 2nd attack with a shove but once entangled I'd assume the grapple is keeping them at 0...

D&D 5E Best warlock Invocation to go with agonizing blast?

Just curious are the level prerequisites class or character level. Levitate at will would be pretty snazzy IMO if character level. Normally though id go thousand faces and misty image on a bard.

While I want more feats the one thing Id really like is a martial option more like the early play test fighter. Battle master x5 with one attack per round. Define it in some way it doesn't work with multiple attacks if you multi class

D&D 5E Should i bother with magic initiate feat?

If I play a spellcaster I can never have too many cantrips. Don't really care about the attack ones. I'll take one maybe but the utility ones are just a lot of fun.

D&D 5E Berserker - How does it really compare to Totem Warrior?

I'm obsessed with that feat and have taken it on every character I've played. Still irritated it doesn't work with a sneak attack but the rules.

D&D 5E How often do you tie in backgrounds?

Sure. My point is if you just say soldier sure you get whatever the soldier feature bonus is if it comes up but I'm not rewriting my campaign around that. If you write up your soldier background I will. It's not even much needed. Where were you a soldier? Give me something to work with and I'll...

D&D 5E Best warlock Invocation to go with agonizing blast?

Unless you have a compelling reason for needing DPR I'd ignore agonizing blast on a lord bard. Mask of many faces and something else would be my go to ones. Maybe take the actor feat with it. Campaigns vary obviously though.

D&D 5E How often do you tie in backgrounds?

Backgrounds from the PH? Not at all. Backgrounds a player writes up. As much as I can. I run published campaigns that I modify depending on the characters provided. I have 3 vague backgrounds and 1 solid one. I'm having trouble working on the solid one this time. It's pretty cool but I'm just...
