    Battle Standards and Solitaire

That ring looks like it would be pretty powerful in the hands of a Ranger, Warlock, or a Mage (Laser cleric too :) )

    Long Jump questions

I wouldn't consider blocking the leaping player silly. That seems a reasonable reaction for a long run before a jump. The monster would then have time to get in the way, and If he noticed the player was about to leap over a pit, it would be a sound tactic. And he isnt immune to melee attacks...

    Long Jump questions

Are you sure about this? it seems very silly to me to run a game this way. I had thought he would not land in the pit, but instead he would actually "land" on his next turn. I thought I had read this somewhere, but I dont have my books with me at work. Anway, If I were running a game, I...

Rules Question: Rain of Steel and similarly worded powers

And just because they try to avoid you doesnt mean they will be successful, you can alwasy move back adjacent to them, and when they try to get away, you can use your combat superiority, or combat challenge if they are marked. all in all, seems a win-win for the fighter whether they try to...

    [4th]Minotaur(MM) Fighter + Maul = overkill?

It doesnt seem all that over powered. on a 1[W] power, your average damage (with no modifiers) goes from 7 to 9. its a nice boost, but I don't think it is over powered. Its in line with the dwarven weapon training, or eladrin soldier feats. both of which are available to those races at first...

D&D 4E How do you run attack rolls in 4e?

I haven't DM'd in 4E yet, but as a player I prefer if the DM asks me my defence score. It's not that I don't trust the DM, I just worry that when I use my second wind, or the warlord does something to boost my AC temporarily, that the DM doesn't keep up with those changes the way a player...

    cross class paragon paths

hmmm .. Dagger master I hadn't thought of. A dual wielding ranger with a rogue multi-class into dagger master sounds like it would be fun :)

    cross class paragon paths

Now, I have never been that big into multi-classing in 3rd edition, but for some reason, I've just got this bug to look into some neat 4th edition non-main class paragon paths. The two that really stuck out at me are the Paladin with a cleric multi-class that goes radiant servant. (the 19/20...

    "Perfect" Fits

Even though Dwarves dont get a Str bonus, I still would say they "fit" fighter, just becuase both wisdom and con are both very good things for a fighter to have. maybe to some lack of strength would disqualify them as a fighter fit, but I'm playing one now, and I love the build.

    Paladin and Implements (Holy Symbol)

as far as the shield goes, I don't see why you couldn't do that right now without a feat. The mechanics of the holy symbol say it only has to be "worn". having a holy symbol set into a shield could qualify for this mechanic (I don't see anything game breaking about allowing that if I were a...

    Paladin and Implements (Holy Symbol)

I think the solution is to go out and get a holy avenger :). but if you stumble on a magic holy symbol and you don't have a cleric in the party, I say more power to ya, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get one, unless you are a pally/cleric multiclass.

Math needed! Bonus to hit vs Bonus to damage

well, taking your base assumption that on average you hit level appropriate creatures exactly 1/2 the time (I am not sure if this is true or not, it would depend on your build i think) so if you take a bonus of +1 damage, and you hit 50% of the time, you are doing an extra 0.5 damage per round...

Weapon focus and spell damage feats

I think that would then be more powerful than a weapon focus feat, since weapon focus applies only to a specific weapon group, but "implement" would mean anything that has the implement keyword (whereas weapon focus needs the weapon keyword, and for you to be using the right weapon group) I...

    Is this legal

dwarven works better, becuase dwarves get a +2 con racial boost where dragonborn do not. Dragonborn however don't have to spend a feat.

    Is this legal

hmmm... so it is. I dont know why that was stuck in my head. gives me another feat or two to play with in my build, have to give combat reflexes another look :)

    Magic Missile and Opportunity Attacks

is it possible the DM mis-spoke and he ment to say he could use magic missile immediate attacks? perhaps refering to certain warlord powers? I had read the rules the same way you did, that opportunity attacks are melee only edit: sorry I cant check the podcast for myself, typing this from work :)

    Is this legal

unfortunately you have to, toughness and durability are pre-recs
  18. Bison

    Is this legal

thats true, but more than the surges, adding con bonus to your surge value will be very nice for a character that has a high con.
  19. Bison

    Is this legal

I hope this is leagal, as the fighter I am playing in our new 4E game is going this route (he is a warhammer wielding fighter that I plan to inc con an str at every opportunity). Looks to make him one hard to kill defender :) Edit: and the books just say "gain two extra healing surges" so they...

    Mithrendain, Citadel of the Feywild

I know this probably isnt an optimal combination, and as an Eladrin probably more rare, but it would make for an interesting fighter with sneak of shadows multi-class.
