Pathfinder 1E Is there a potion, elixir or spell that...

If you're the DM, just invent a potion that grants immunity to poisons for a short span. Seems simple. Make it useable by PCs and such if they get their hands on some, and it'll make them think you're playing fair. Maybe have it only grant immunity to poisons if you're exposed AFTER consumption...

    Help building the villian

I hope you don't mind if I shamelessly steal this idea for a campaign of my own sometime. The regenerating necromancer minion idea, I mean. That's just mean. OP: I'm not sure how Summoning is seen as a weak spellcasting method though, since you can basically create an army with a few rounds of...

Pathfinder 1E Half Red, Half Black Dragon? O_o

But but but....Lamarck wasn't correct? *Reality is shattered* Seriously though, I haven't given this much thought, but kind of ran with the idea that dragons of one color deliberately only mate with others of their color at this point to produce more of their type. They might mate with any...

Pathfinder 1E What the heck do Roc eat???

A lot of the responses have been somewhat less than serious, however. Seriously though, most raptor types tend to eat smaller mammal critters, such as rodents, or fish (in the case of larger raptors). I'd extrapolate that with the Roc based on whatever creatures live in their home region. If...

Pathfinder 1E What the heck do Roc eat???

That was exactly my thought, "The Roc is an ENORMOUS bird of prey....they eat whatever they want, duh!" OT: Birds of prey basically eat anything smaller and weaker than them, so just have them eat whatever you want. Seems like an odd question to pose to the forum to me.

D&D 5E Humanoids, and playing monstrous races

I've always half-jokingly suggested that kobolds should be -1 LA back during 3.x era. Let them be 2nd level sorcerers (or whatever class) right to start and they'll be slightly ahead of the curve, spellcasting-wise, but still suffer the drawbacks of koboldness their entire careers.

    Pathfinder 1E Ruin Explorer (PrC)

It reminds me a lot of the Archaeologist Archetype for Bards from Ultimate Combat a lot. I'd probably steer people that way instead....I see that's already been mentioned a few times now. It's a cool idea though, and I like the 10 level progression more.

Pathfinder 1E Your experiences with broken Pathfinder characters? (edit: more accurately, w/1 avg PF character when the rest of the party is meh)

Tripping is not the same in Pathfinder as it was in 3.x. You just make a Combat Maneuver Bonus (CMB) roll vs their Combat Maneuver Defense (CMD) to resolve the Trip (or Disarm, Grapple, etc.). Pathfinder Monks get absurd bonuses to their CMB and CMD, even if built poorly, so "just trip the monk"...

Pathfinder 1E Yet another Pathfinder With Firearms thread

Some clarification, while the guns were more advanced, we were playing largely in an urban setting, so most encounters took place within buildings, sewers, or small alleyways, so the range was somewhat negated for firearm users. That said, yes, if we were talking about open ground and whatnot...

D&D 3E/3.5 Which D&D 3.5 Core Base Class is the Most Powerful (Prepared Casters Excluded)?

While a sorcerer does have some firepower, he does have kind of a "Every problem is a nail when all you have is a hammer" issue unless the player is willing to pick some really varied spells. I like rangers for versatility, and bards, even though they get a bit of a bum wrap in most quarters.

    Need help figuring this out...

I ran my party into a Nightwalker once. It destroyed the dervish's double bladed magic swords in a quick smash and he was devastated. It was hilarious.

Pathfinder 1E Yet another Pathfinder With Firearms thread

I played in a game where we had WWI era firearm technology available but I was a warforged paladin wielding a bastard sword. Despite many foes having basic pistols or even some shotgun type weapons, my character could typically close within a round and start pummeling the shooter or even...

    D&D 3E/3.5 3.5 Best classes.

While these discussions tend to break down into "A prepared and min-maxed Druid can...blah blah blah...better than a fighter/rogue/etc" I view this as kind of missing the point of a given class. If you're playing a Druid just to outshine the fighter, why didn't you just play a fighter? True, the...

You're doing what? Surprising the DM

Whoa whoa whoa there, guys. The Alchemist in Pathfinder gets their level+Int modifier number of bombs per day, not "prepare at will". Feats can grant more, and the Alchemist really has no restrictions on making tons of Alchemist Fire in his down time, but only the class bomb feature causes...

Pathfinder 1E Condensing the skills list

This was my exact thought upon reading this as well. Why condense the list and then have specialties to invest more points in? Seems a bit redundant. On the topic of the skill list, I like a broader list for my games, as it encourages players to pick specialties and perhaps some flavor skill...

Pathfinder 1E Question: Can a Bard cast a spell while maintaining a bardic performance?

I think it's cool you were fine with the improv ruling, but going forward you guys should know that maintaining the performance is a free action, which you get one per round and it has no impact on your other actions (for the most part). I'd fluff it by saying that the bard who is singing to...

Pathfinder 1E New DM Needs Help

I have always understood CR as the following: a monster of CR X is an appropriate encounter for a party of 4 PCs of level X where said party should realistically burn through about 1/4 their resources (prepared spells, healing items, etc.). That's a generally good rule of thumb, but gets wonky...

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder Immortality - Legitimate Gameplay Methods

The spontaneous reincarnation is just a means of avoiding death. Sure, it could be annoying to have your character have to rejoin the party, but you come back anywhere within 20 miles of your "death" with all your same levels and powers. No biggie.
