D&D 5E Point Buy Calculator (Excel)

I have just uploaded D&D 5E Point Buy Calculator (Excel) to the downloads area. Just as it says, this is a stupidly simple excel based point buy calculator for generating attributes. That's really all it does. Maybe someone will find it useful, because sometimes math is hard. You can find the...

D&D 5E Which campaign setting material (AP or Sourcebook) would you like to see first/next in 5E?

Also, I love old school Dragonlance. Unfortunately I purchased the Fifth Age box back in 1996 and it soured me on the setting. If I ever run Dragonlance, it'll be War of the Lance era, or pre-cataclysm.

Technically Al-Qadim is FR, so you may just get your wish!

D&D 5E Spells: the Good, the Bad, and the Downright Orcish Grandmother

That...is actually pretty brilliant. If you didn't want to go the multiclass route, you could always grab the Magic Initiate feat: Of course, you'd need a decent Wisdom, so your Über charisma isn't helpful, unless you're doing the aforementioned Devotion paladin channel divinity. But still. If...

D&D 5E Spells: the Good, the Bad, and the Downright Orcish Grandmother

You know, I was thinking about this very thing earlier...and nowhere does it say the target has to be hostile, right? You could move the hex to the sacrificial chicken you keep around for just such occasions! Admittedly it would be annoying to maintain concentration for hours and hours at a...

D&D 5E Spells: the Good, the Bad, and the Downright Orcish Grandmother

Haven't seen Hex mentioned here, it's a pretty great spell. Reasons why: -No save, no to hit roll. -Casting time is one bonus action -Disadvantage on ability checks related to one ability...somewhat useful. -Extra D6 Necrotic damage whenever you hit with an attack. -Concentration, up to one...

D&D 5E Which campaign setting material (AP or Sourcebook) would you like to see first/next in 5E?

I'm starting my first 5E campaign shortly, Mystara is my setting of choice.

D&D 5E How good is the default Paladin at mounted combat?

Sure, but that wasn't the original question. Luckily you don't need animal handling to avoid bouncing around the battlefield "all Don Quixote" (awesome reference, btw :D ) The easiest solution (which isn't game breaking, and if I was your DM I'd give it the nod) would be to add animal handling...

D&D 5E How good is the default Paladin at mounted combat?

Training in animal handling, or lack thereof, has zero bearing on mounted combat. So the default Paladin is as good as anyone else at mounted combat. (Page 198 of your PHB)

D&D 5E Finally Got my MM!

Totally agree with the sentiments expressed here, it's a great looking book, and a fantastic resource. With the free 2 day shipping, and awesome Amazon price, I really had no choice. This; though really, most monsters are easy enough to reverse engineer.

D&D 5E I'd like to know the thinking behind this....

My only real gripe against Tieflings is their blatantly devilish appearance, the changes to the race (the appearance and the lore) introduced in 4E are unnecessary and ridiculous. I liked the 2/3/3.5 version that just had something...off about them. The occasional whiff of sulfur, maybe...

    OD&D The Beauty of OD&D

Huh. I really like that idea. It would be interesting to see how badly a player wants to play their concept. ("Here, I'll trade you some well rounded decent stats for your pile of trash with a high INT so I can play a wizard!")
