The 10 Player Races in Volo's Guide Revealed

First, if that were true then we wouldn't have gotten the abhorrent mess that is the firbolg because there would have been no reason not to build it to represent what it has been since its inception, instead of the monstrosity of terrible that it now is. Secondly, basing design on feels instead...

The 10 Player Races in Volo's Guide Revealed

It looks like Wizards are going off the rails. If I hadn't already prepaid for a pre-order of the special cover version, I think I wouldn't have bought this judging by the information revealed so far. Lots of backwards moves lately, introducing concepts and rules design that they'd previously...

D&D 5E Characters are not their statistics and abilities

I consider the notion of making a character purposefully inept to be in fundamental opposition to the co-operative nature of the game and also to the inherent concepts of heroism within the fantasy trope. To me, it's rude and inconsiderate to bring a character into a game that is incompetent and...

Does Your Group Allow Homebrew or 3PP Material for D&D Games?

Actually that's a further reason not to trust 3PP. Here you have thoroughly play-tested material which still isn't without issue and yet you want people to trust someone's back-of-the-napkin math (on a good day) product? Most 3PP's don't have the time or resources to implement even a small...

That gives me very little faith in anything ENW puts out.

Does Your Group Allow Homebrew or 3PP Material for D&D Games?

I won't allow it and I probably never will. There are enough problems with the core classes that have been playtested and gone through a rigorous design process. 3e taught me not to trust TPP and nothing has changed since then given the exceptionally low quality of content on DM's Guild.

    Trapdoor Tech Closes Its Doors

I don't see how this is on WotC. Trapdoor clearly didn't have the skill-base to implement any of their ideas. They overpromised and underdelivered. WotC were just lending them the license to use the D&D IP and only divorced from Trapdoor when it was clear that they couldn't do what they said...

D&D 5E Totally underwhelmed by 5e bladesinger, am I missing something?

The bladesinger requires a tactical and intelligent player to take the best advantage of it's strengths. Bananas need not apply.

D&D 5E Game design allow sub optimal class build. Confirmed by M Mearls

This is an outright lie. Deny it all you want, that just doesn't happen and you're only saying it happens in order to bolster your point because the truth would prove you wrong. Short of heavily weighted dice, what you're saying is so far-fetched and such an empirically unsound anecdote that...

D&D 5E Game design allow sub optimal class build. Confirmed by M Mearls

Deliberately making a bad character is counter-productive play.

D&D 5E Game design allow sub optimal class build. Confirmed by M Mearls

I'm the DM, so yes. Your way is selfish and comes at the cost of other people's enjoyment and makes the DM's life difficult. I find that repugnant. It's a social game, not a single-player game. What is ironic about your stance is that you're doing the exact same thing that you're criticising me...

No you can't. And quite frankly, I find this attitude that you can selfish and disgusting.

D&D 5E Game design allow sub optimal class build. Confirmed by M Mearls

I encourage min/maxing and powergaming from my players up unto a point. For instance, making a wizard with an 8 intelligence and a Headband of Intellect is a step too far, but making a gnome illusionist with a high con most definitely isn't. I also actively discourage making stupid characters...

Firbolgs - A PC Race From VOLO'S GUIDE TO MONSTERS

Which is one of the many reasons why firbolg should never have been considered as a playable race. What I really don't understand about this decision is that firbolg as a playable race simply wasn't something anyone was making any significant noise about, which makes the decision to shoehorn...

    D&D 5E Is Storm King's Thunder a flop . . ? Still early yet but doesn't look that good.

SKT has followed the trend set by OotA by being both an adventure and a setting book. If you want to adventure in the north of Faerun, whether following the adventures in SKT or not, this book is essential, much like how if you want to adventure in the Underdark, or in Ravenloft, OotA and CoS...
