5th Level Gestalt for a PbP Game

I know you specifically said not Bard, but Battle Dancer//Bard is awesome and meets all of your other requirements. Build to Sublime Chord and you're practically a Sorcerer, but built on a far better chassis. Taking Arcane Preparation to qualify for Wyrm Wizard practically gives you the best spell list in the game, opening up high-level healing and buffs on top of the already impressive repertoire of the Bard.

Druid//Ranger grants you all Druid goodness with extra combat awesomesauce. Talk to your DM about if having the Animal Companion ability twice, but at different levels, means you get 2 critters.

Cleric//Paladin? Simple, classy, serious Omph.

Sorcerer//Warlock? Choose a lot of battlefield control stuff and some buff spells. when you hit level 6, aid your allies while remaining invisible.

Can't ignore Factotum//Wizard as a utility combo. A better skillmonkey than a Rogue, and the spells that make you Batman. Use IP if you want to hit somebody a few times in an encounter, but you've honestly got better things to do.

It doesn't have spellcasting, but to emphasize Support, some combat, and nifty abilities, how about a Marshal//Dragon Shaman?
It is by no means optimized, but everyone will become more powerful simply by standing near you.

If you can get your hands on Miniatures Handbook, Healer//Warmage could be fun to play. a little MAD, but you get to blow them up, and put them back together!

I don't know how many levels you guys plan to go, so I'm trying to think of builds that are useful off the bat.

How about Crusader//Sorcerer? Possibly dipping some Marshal (1-2 levels) and/or Paladin on the Crusader side. Sorcerer side could have any sort of prestige class(es) attached, though probably not by level 5.

EDIT: Maybe War Weaver for Sorc prestige class later on?

Gestalt as a Focused Abjurer/Focused Conjurer specialist wizard... and snag all the special abilities you can get out of unearthed arcana and other source books. Assuming your DM will allow it.

If he won't?

Consider Sorc 5/Warlock 1/Pixie 4.

You can do the same thing with less MAD by going Water Shugenja/Warmage. Shugenja also doesn't have the armor restriction, so he'll be able to make use of his improved armor proficiencies from Warmage 8. Two levels of Paladin gives him Divine Grace, Skill Focus (Knowledge: Religion) and two levels of Divine Oracle gives him evasion in armor and adds a bunch of good spells to his Warmage list.

Alternately, you can put Warmage/Rainbow Servant against Sorcerer.

Of course, none of these offer the fighting abilities he's looking for.

On the other hand, if he's willing (or allowed) to alternate sides, he can go Swashbuckler//Beguiler to 6, then Swiftblade. Half-Elf Paragon and Elf Paragon give the prerequisites for Bladesinger, and if you can sneak another feat in there, Rogue 3 qualifies you for Daring Outlaw.

Which is to say that the only ability scores you need higher than a 10 are Dexterity and Intelligence, both of which get a +2 bonus with a floating +2 to the score of your choice. Just make sure to put Half-Elf Paragon 2 or a Beguiler level across from any level of Swiftblade or Bladesinger that doesn't grant a caster level.

Full BAB, full spellcasting, no MAD.

Remember you still only have the usual number of actions per round. That's one reason I second the suggestion of Dragon Shaman - in a standard game it's not that powerful but down one side of a gestalt you get party buffing, immunities, skill boosts without spending an action in combat except the odd swift action to swap auras. And a breath weapon. It has D10 HD and two good saves so you can put something squishy but powerful down the other side.

If you like Swiftblade note that in gestalt you can enter it at level 6 with a wizard 5//combat class 3+.

How about Totemist/Archivist?
You kick ass and you have access to practically every spell in the game.

Thtis is what I went with, now if I onlty had More Exprience Playing Spellcasters.............

Druid//Ranger grants you all Druid goodness with extra combat awesomesauce. Talk to your DM about if having the Animal Companion ability twice, but at different levels, means you get 2 critters.

He would have went for it, and your right, as a 5th level Gestalt it probably would have been fun...... but see above.

Tanks folks but game is already on!
