As the party scrambles up on the island plateau, they finally get a glimps into the old lighthouse ruin. The building would be dark if it were not for the setting sun's rays shining through gaping holes in the walls and roof of the structure.
The lighthouse looks as though it had been attacked long a go by some hideously large beast. Large holes have been blasted in its walls. Rubble and bleached bones lie everywhere.
Gensai and Hankel almost make it to the doorway when they are met by two ferocious-looking clockwork constructs resembling large hounds, but with, literally, razor-sharp teeth and claws. They utter mechanical growls at the two intruders, but hold their ground at the threshold.
As the rest of the party clears the ladder, they too witness the defensive actions of the constructs, while walking among the bones of the recently dispatched skeletons.
As the group attempts to reassemble, however, a skeletal figure shimmers, and then takes full form next to Gensai. Grabbing the ronin by the throat, the skeleton squeezes the swordmaster's neck attempting to choke the life out him. Turning to the rest of the group he utters a foul shriek that holds those closest to him at bay,
"No one shall enter Rioc Stang and live!"
At his words the bones around Riardon and Fenwick begin to animate once more. They rise, and before the party's eyes, they reconect themselves. Before Riardon or Fenwick (or any of the others for that matter) have time to react, they find themselves surrounded by skeletons they thought they had destroyed, even stronger than before.
The skeletons attack with lightning-speed, slicing deeply into the orc and warlord, causing grievous wounds.
To make matters worse, arrows rain from atop the ruined lighthouse finding home in the flesh of Gensai, Riardon, and Hankel.[sblock=TikChik's Actions]Move: Double move to K19[/sblock][sblock=Hankel's Actions]Move: Double move to G21

GM: | I'm going to turn over control of Hankel to one of you. I feel that you would benefit from his presence more if one of you directed his actions.
Hankel's primary motivation is to reach the top of the lighthouse and find a means with which to light the beacon that he hopes is still there.
Secondarily, he knows that this is the most likely location of Arkus Gimlord's famous blade, Stang. He will be constantly looking for it while he is fighting. Doing so means that he makes a perception check (minor action) every turn once he enters the building. I will post what he notices (if he notices anything). | |
GM: | Terrain:
- Bone piles are difficult terrain
- Other areas of difficult terrain are marked as such
- The stairs are unstable. There is a 2 in 6 (roll of 1 or 2 on d6) chance that the stairs will collapse for every turn that anyone but an iron defender is standing on them. If the stairs collapse, all creatures fall taking 2d6 damage from the fall and debris. Once the stairs collapse, a DC 27 Athletics/Acrobatics check is required to get up to the second floor. The iron defenders will not be able to get to the second floor if the stairs collapse.
