Jarren continues to scan the woods as if he had seen nothing, hoping that the distance will be sufficient to cover up any tell tale signs in his body language. "They're still here," he says in a grim, quiet voice. "Watching us from the trees. I'm for running them down, but we need to be careful. They could be baiting us into an ambush."

If Ryda ever takes her hand off Talkrai's arm, Tal simply collapses back to the ground. She seems to see nothing of the destruction around her. Her eyes are swollen and there are still tears running down her cheeks. She isn't making any noise you can here without putting your face right up to hers anymore though.

"Everything so far has been an ambush," Unit 16 whispers back. "No reason to believe this would be otherwise. If you call your spirit near them, I will run toward it."

[sblock=ooc]So really, after thinking about it, every single battle that Unit 16 has participated in - all 4 of them so far - has been an ambush. The kenku ambushed us at the owlbear, the dwarf ambushed us with the hobgoblins (...somehow, even though we ambushed him!), and both fights in this adventure have been ambushes. Even Gark, my other character, has been in only one fight: and the way it started, he opened a door and was shot so full of arrows he went from full to 3 HP. I'm thinking ambushes are pretty much par for the course, eh? :)[/sblock]

At Jarren’s comment, Ryda releases her charge and retrieves her bow from her back. She pauses for a moment, psyching herself up and focusing her breathing. Gliding up to her friends, she scans the scene, noting where Jarren indicates the waiting ambush is located. Nocking an arrow she lets her senses go, waiting for an opportune moment to strike.

[sblock=Readied action]Twinstrike at anything that attacks Ryda, Talkrai, Jarren, Unit 16, or Jarren’s spirit companion: 1d20+12=20 1d12+5=15 1d20+12=22 1d12+5=9 whaaaa no crit, I liked feeling OP lol.[/sblock]

Talkrai is still on the ground. She has made no effort to stand on her own. The fact that there is a potential ambush upon them seems to have escaped her otherwise adept senses.

"Let's go," Jarren declares, his features twisting into a feral snarl as he focuses and calls his spirit companion into being on the far side of the clearing, just the near side of the treeline where the enemies lurk.

[sblock=OOC]Minor: Call Spirit Companion in the location described[/sblock]

Jarren summon his spirit and Unit 16 quickly move toward it. As he arrives near the trees, an half-orc move out of the tress on his left, calmly. "Lower your weapon" he asks to Susan. "And you too." he tells to someone in front of Susan, in the wood. He makes a sign and two panther and two large wolf get out behind him. A moment later, six other half-orc get out of the trees, some of them wielding battleaxe, others longbows. Unit 16 also spot the last worker, which is escorted by two of the half-orc.

"Mercenaries, your friends of House Lyrandar is not well, but our healer is taking care of him at the moment. We arrived at the moment those cultist was executing him. Sheet your weapon, I have some question."

[SBLOCK=OOC]Ryda have a +5 circumstance bonus to all those rolls:
[SBLOCK=Nature DC: 20]The one speaking is a druid. [SBLOCK=Nature DC: 30]The druid seems to be a Gatekeeper.[/SBLOCK][/SBLOCK]
[SBLOCK=History or Streetwise DC: 20]The half-ork seems members of House Tharashk.
[SBLOCK=Perception DC: 25, Ryda only, No circumstance bonus]You spot two more archer in ambush. They are at the opposite side of the group, to the east. A usual tactic of House Tharashk to get on the wizards and archers. You also note that one of those archer is Rydion, and he seems to have difficulty to hide some surprise.[/SBLOCK][/SBLOCK]
