(Adventure) The bastards of XXXXXX Bluerun

Protean

Still the Same
Joseph will continue forward until melee range with the leader is reached. He wants to ensure that one hit will drop the leader. Keep in mind Joseph is still sneaking at least until the point his sword swings upon the leader.

While shifting through the undergrowth, Joseph smiles. Mud glistens, his new found war paint blazing in the sun. Now a mess of green and brown he edges perilously closer to the battle, readying himself to take on the leader of this group, the greened hilt of his claymore in hand.

'They have engaged us and so they must pay the iron price.'

Cowed by Rainca's eviseration of his fellow, one of the sling-men turns in a panic to try to run, opening up just the oppertunity he wanted to avoid, and the barbarian woman's axe lays him low (AoO, 7 hp, dead). The other draws a small knife and takes a wild swing at Rainca, but misses badly. Meanwhile, the three on the other side have aimed their assault at the wagon itself, striking Redarn and Dioran each once, though neither mortally (6 hp to redarn who looks a little shakey and 4 to Dorain, also not so happy).

Seeing what has happened to Gath, Rainca charges away from her remaining foe, who flails wildly at her back but misses. [took a liberty due to the demonstrated patheticness of the sling guy in melee combat, rainca thinks it is a table knife he drew on her]. Slamming into the man with the club who had struck Gath, she flings his body into the dirt with her axe. (7 hp, dead) Lupic meanwhile takes a step up to the self satisfied leader and catches him up into a mighty embrace, just as he seems about to say something congradulatory to his "troops". His spikes seem possitioned perfectly, and the leader drops unmoving when he is done. (9 hp, dead)
The two remaining men keep their weapons in front of them while moving away as quickly as possible (60 ft, move only). Meanwhile, the wagon has drawn within 30 feet of the former sight of the battle, aproximately 15 feet from the remaining sling-men. Joseph is 20 feet from the sling-men on the other side, though no one in the wagon notices him.

Joseph shakes his head heartedly as he moves towards the two men left on the battlefield. His nimble foot movement places him squarely to the head of the two remaining men. Claymore firmly in hand he swings.

'Let them run Bloodbearer' Joseph tells himself. 'They will help you hunt.'

ooc:need some clarification, are you going after the group of sling-men (there are three of them on your side) or the two remaining melee guys who are backing off? You can run around to be in range of the melee guys next round, but I've been presuming standard moves because of your wish to sneak...

Dorian still doing the scorpion?

Images of the slaughter flit through Rainca's mind. Flying sling stones. A pale face at arm's length. Blood. Redarn hit. A flashing table knife. Gath down. Blood. Spikes crushed into a man's chest. Blood. The Laugher draws nearer with each red bite, with each gargling scream, with each whiff of fear. The edges of her vision start to go silver-flecked black.

NO. Rainca shakes herself and looks at the men running before her. Rainca would like to know who these men are. They are not warriors. And there is no glory to be won in slaughtering sheep.

The barbarian snarls and leaps the bodies in front of her to land neatly beyond them at a run. She runs wide of the fleeing men at full speed, circling around to drive them back towards the wagon.

But they will not escape.

OOC: For every turn they take Rainca will match it and try to stay within charging distance. If they split up Rainca will charge and attack the one nearest her and run down the other, tackling him if need be. Her goal is to drive them towards the wagon. She does not ask them to surrender their weapons because she wants them to stay in the battle. She will try to group them up with the third slinger from her side of the road.

OOC: I also just noticed an accounting mistake on Rainca's character sheet. I didn't spend all of her attribute points. It was not deliberate... anyone object to me spending those remaining 2 points?

Seeing how the militant peasants are falling easily, Dioran will instead sap the strength of the one most likely to be taken captive. A foul beast from the beyong may be somewhat overkill here.

Game mechanics wise: he will cast a Ray of Enfeeblement at the nearest target who is near within striking distance of one of our melee artists. Firing into melee is acceptable, but any brigand gaining cover from one of my fellows is no valid target.

(finishing up the round from the last post)

Emerging from the underbrush, Joseph swings his mighty claymore, ripping through one bandit's midsection before burying the sword in the chest of another (cleave, 2 dead). A bolt of crackling, black energy leaps from Dioran's finger, but misses the remaining slingman on that side, leaving a dead, almost rotted patch in the brush beside him.

Bringing the wagon within a few yards of where the main fight was, Redarn grabs a leather bag from under the bench and stumbles over to Gath's body.

Lupic will proceed to engage the nearest target in the customary manner now that the leader is down. Repeat untill no opposition remains.
