[Adventure] The Race of the Five Horns (DM: stonegod, Judge: THB)

stonegod

Spawn of Khyber/LEB Judge
The Race to the Finish: Catching the Horns

Rikka speeds forward, but the clutter and quick turns make acrobatics difficult. Only through Bellegon's directions and a timely application of her primal skills is she able to prevent herself from stumbling.

Status

Successes: 2/4; Failures: 1/3; Rikka uses Fleet Pursuit to gain +2 to roll to just succeed.

First Post
Ryk continues racing ahead, then suddenly notices Spring has veered off in another direction. Looking to the left, he realizes that the dinosaur is correct; the Horns waited until they were behind a building then teleported sideways to confuse pursuit. Spring scented them but Ryk had already run several precious yards in the wrong direction.

Spying a clothesline, the halfling catches it to spin himself around without losing momentum.... and it snaps! Ryk ruefully picks himself up, rubbing a skinned shin.

Race to the Finish: Catching the Horns

Ryk thinks he knows the way, but as he's distracted by Spring's change of course, trips on a clothesline. He hears laughter from the hook-nosed Orien who skips away with another teleport. Crush, barreling after, sprints as fast as he can, causually picking up the halfling and hurling him ahead to keep up. Glimpses of blue cloaks can be seen, but its unclear in which direction they went—and which is the optimal for the group.

Vok and Bellegon try to work it out...

[Ryk fails, Crush succeeds. +2 on next Streetwise check. One more roll will do it, one way or the other]

First Post
Rikka paused in her headlong rush, long enough to take a careful view of the surroundings. Then she padded quickly back to where Vok and Bellegon were conferring- without even shifting back from her feline form she purred a few words, relating what she had seen. Hopefully they would be able to put the information to use...

Bellegon follows confidently, until suddenly he looses focus on the magic he used to trace The Horns. Somewhat less sure of himself, he leads the companions into small alley that promises a shortcut.

"This way we'll get directly in front of them. But only barely! Hurry!"

OOC: I'l leave stonegod to finish whether this takes us in front or behind enemies :) As usual, if there is situation where teleport 3 squares can help or darkness to hinder others, it is used

Streetwise with aid another x2 (1d20+6+4=17)

OOC: Gulp, is it enough? I should have used Arcana again, but without aids it's same mod

Race to the Finish: Catch the Horns

The group enters the open plaza, a bit confused, but Bellegon suddenly figures out a way forward through an old "hog's tunnel" in one of the nearby cafe's wall. The patrons cheer as the party races through. They come into a twisting street overhung with lines of laundry and leering stone faces—right in front of the Horn's Apex!
