Ashin's Commission: The Great Escape!

*Eternity throws her javelin at one of the Afflicted attacking Hulgyr more to the side so she can aim for a spot that is well out of melee because she's smart like that. Unfortunately, due to the distance, her shot misses badly.*
(OOC: Back to Zaeryl since Hulgyr delayed)
*Zaeryl eyes the tide of the fight, considers his dearth of power, and decides that now is the time to start with the crossbow. He draws it and fires at one of the larger Afflicted--the same one chosen by Eternity, as he likes her reasoning. Unfortunately, target is not all he shares with the other Elan, as his attack misses horribly.*
*Meanwhile, Hulgyr launches into a barbaric rage due to the attacks he suffered from the Afflicted (OOC: not counting against his total thanks to FotW) and cuts down two of the three with a single mighty cleave.*
*The Afflicted begin to pour towards Ironwolf, but he plays it smart. With five opponents, he could be silly and blow his readied and opportunity attacks on the first to challenge him, but he allows one small Afflicted to attack, missing him thanks to his deflective force screen, and then triggers his readied attack against the second and larger Afflicted with intent to cleave, an intent that he carries out admirably, as two Afflicted fall in bloody heaps.*
*Almayce repeats his crossbow performance, but this time he misses due to trouble with cover and shooting into melee.*
*Zaeryl curses as he watches a few of the downed Afflicted begin to stir.*
"They heal slowly over time...Fortunately some of our overkill flame attacks killed many the fallen ones to prevent it. We will have to finish off the rest...when we are done."
*Another Afflicted attacks Ironwolf, this time another big one, and so he cannot make an opportunistic strike as it slashes into him and hits, dealing him a painful cut.*
(OOC: 10 Damage to Ironwolf)
*He does, however, get an attack against the little Afflicted who comes after him next, a critical blow that would have killed the little thing twice over even if it wasn't already injured, and it cleaves towards the larger one, but the Afflicted sees the attack coming and dodges away. One last large Afflicted moves forward and around, but it can't attack Ironwolf unless its sole living partner steps forward to give it some room.*
*Meanwhile, the final large Afflicted attacking Hulgyr rips into him with a claw and bite and leaves him dying and within an inch of his life. It takes a step towards Zaeryl.*
(OOC: Hulgyr takes 28. He is at -8 now even in Rage. If the Rage ends without healing, he dies, and the Rage only lasts 6 rounds total. A 12 Con Barbarian--charming
)
"Eternity, get the one down here so we can take care of Hulgyr, if you can..." Zaeryl suggests.
(OOC: Eternity again--there are 3 enemies left--two big on Ironwolf, and one big over the fallen Hulgyr and threatening)

(OOC: She could not only get there but even have an action left to make the Heal check, but it seems a supremely stupid idea, since the big Afflicted standing over Hulgyr could kill her in one round if she exposes herself like that )

*He fires a crossbow bolt at the Afflicted, knocking it unconscious.*
*Hulgyr bleeds towards his imminent demise.*
