Broad Arrow Jack presents Crypt of the Everflame [IC Thread]

Seddon shifts in his seat and places his soup spoon down. His eyes move from the dancing pair and onto the burly man before him, "Well, I spend most of my days hunting and taking care of the household chores, nothing too fancy." He picks his spoon up again and stirs the soup. "What about you two?"

Corus looks down at his holy symbol of Sarenrae, a large, silver sun hanging on a silver chain around his neck. The pommel of his scimitar is visible over his shoulder where it hangs next to his cloak, there too is the symbol of the Sun of Sarenrae. On the floor is his shield, emblazoned with again a shining sun. "Oh, pretty much the same" replies Corus taking a long swig of his beer to conceal his grin.

"Oh, while I have the natural grace of my race, I've never been trained. Still it seems to be the thing to do at a party. Any suggestion for the company name?"

Mariana lets out a carefree laugh as Elandril spins her around in a tight circle, spinning her around the floor and making her dizzy.

"Well, I don't think we should be as presumptuous to call ourselves the Conquering Five but I'm not opposed to the name."
She laughs again, "I don't have any better ideas at the moment though. Maybe we should wait to see what our adventures hold. Or maybe that name would give us good luck!"

As she spins she catches a glance of Corvus's longing gaze and smiles. She knew he'd definitely dance with her if she asked, he was always there for her. The next spin her eyes landed on the large barbarian and she wondered if she could convince him to dance with her and what that would be like... his big strong arms wrapped around her... his stern blue eyes staring down at her...

"I am apprentice to Braggar, the smith," Anundr answers simply. It is also fairly clear that the massive northman can probably handle himself in a fight, if based on sheer size and strength and nothing else.

With the dance drawing to a close, Elandril escorts Mariana back to the table. "You need never be ashamed of your dancing" he says. Back at the table he introduces himself to the newcomer. "Elandril, apprentice to Holgast, at your service. It appears we will be travelling together on the morrow." "We know our own 'craftiness' "he says with a wink, to Mariana.
"What craft do you have that the mayor thought may be of service? "

So many questions. Seddon internally wished the dancing elf and woman were around when he'd made his brief speech earlier to the other two at the table. He cleared his throat in a non-official manner and attempted to sound as confident as possible, "Well I hunt a lot and am good with a bow. I guess it was important that I do it for my mother too." He says the last bit not entirely sure if this wasn't the only reason he was doing it. She had championed hard against his father to get Seddon on this trip, he wanted to make her proud.

ooc: If anyone would like to retroactively interject any last words in the tavern scene, feel free. Otherwise, it's time to press on.

After a long night of eating, drinking, dancing, introductions, and general merry-making, the celebration of the Quest for the Everflame finally winds to a close. Each of the intrepid heroes makes their way back to his/her home and settles in for some much needed rest. Who knows, it may just be the last opportunity for a good night's sleep for a long while.

The following morning, the 4th of Neth, dawns cool and clear. Fortunately, the party isn't expected to assemble in the town square until noon, so it gives some extra time to shake off any unpleasant after-effects of the previous night's revelry. As each one gathers weapons and gear, the young heroes recall the words of Mayor Uptal...that they are expected to travel light, carrying only what they absolutely need—weapons, armor, spellbooks, etc.—as rations and other generic equipment will be provided.

As the PCs stride into the town square, they notice that the area is otherwise deserted (an expected part of the ceremony). The ensuing wait for the clock to strike noon offers a moment for the adventurers to talk again, in privacy.

Anundr arrives only shortly before noon, dressed as if ready for battle. He wears a suit of steel scales over his leathers and wools, and his heavy bear-fur cloak over that. A greatsword is strapped to his back, as is a heavy wooden shield, and both warhammer and throwing axe are secured at this waist. He carriers a pack as well, though by the looks of it, it doesn't hold much. Still, the mighty northman looks as though he is ready for anything.

"Seems we going to need to draw you out of your shell, Anundr. Your always the first to arrive and represent us".;) Elandril says with a wink. He arrives as pictured save Storm is sheathed at his waist and he has pack and bow on his back.

The big northman shrugs. His rich baritone is low as he responds, barely audible over the susurrus of the wind. "I do my duty. It is no less than honor demands."

"Honor schonor," Mariana says, squinting at the light as she stumbles up to the group, dragging her pack on the ground behind her. "If you were so honorable you would have stopped me from drinking so much last night."
