The most obvious thing about the pile of bodies was that most of them were fully or partially dismembered. One of the elves still had all of its limbs. In fact, as the party squatted over the bodies, Corilo heard a moan coming from the literal whole-elf.

Brue got up and came over to Lorenzo. She peered down at the dismembered bodies with detached interest; she'd seen worse in the burn pit at Mosstone.

The moaning whole-elf, however, made her jump a little. Brue crouched down beside the moaning individual and began shoving dead bodies and dismembered parts off it. Knowing Lorenzo to be a healer, she left the curing to his able hands, staying out of his way but helping where she could.

Gnorth was curious if the ogre was just running to provide itself more room to swing, or if there was more to this cave than what the party could immediately see. He walks around from wall to wall, seeing if another entrance to this cave were perhaps shielded from view.

Before he could get too far into his investigation, he heard the unfamiliar moan. Concerned, he rushed over to the gathering of his allies and saw the weakened elf. He bent down and hummed a tune his mother had hummed to him while tending to his wounds as a child, as he poured a potion into the mouth of the wounded. The elf's wounds began to knit.

"Be calm, fair folk,"Gnorth remarked softly, "You are with friends now."

Brue watched as the half-orc exhibited what was, in her experience, a tender side uncommon to his race. An eyebrow quirked at Gnorth's warbling lullaby. Is that what orc mothers sing to their babes? No wonder they're all so surly. Brue grinned at Gnorth's back. She rib him about this later. Right now, there was a mission to stick to. Information to be gathered, and items to be hunted for. She left Gnorth and Lorenzo to tend to the injured elf, and set about searching the room.

"Still alive after all of this. Tymora must have blessed this guy, am I right?" Corilo said to Lorenzo. Then, he started aiding Brue in his search.

OOC: Perception check: [roll0] (something went wrong with the roll. I rolled in the other thread and got a 16)

The elf slowly sat up and gratefully accepted the healing potion. "Are the ogres, dead?" he asked fearfully, clearly still in shock from his encounter; he hadn't even offered his name. Catching sight of the dismembered bodies next to him, he cringed and crawled backwards until his back touched the wall of the cave.

Examining the pile of goods, the party found three large burlap sacks containing a hoard of coins, mostly silver and copper with a few gold coins thrown in for good measure. The pile also contained a variety of different objects: glass bottles, lengths of chain, a leather scroll case, an abacus, an empty chest, an hourglass, a pair of hand mirrors, and a well-made maul. Boddynock suggested the goods were worth about 90 to 100 gold pieces all together.

"Loot from Port Kir, I guess. The people there might be happy to have some of this stuff back." Corilo saw the elf they rescued, cowering in shock and fear "Our friend here seems in need of some fresh air".

Brue idly picked up the maul and looked at it. It seemed well-fashioned. She wondered whether it might be from Mosstone, but discarded that idea. The dwarf there had largely made armor, not weapons. After her cursory examination of the maul, she put it down and picked up the leather scroll case. She peeked inside. She'd seen Vixtrin and Rowena with similar scroll cases but had never seen one's contents. Was it for missives? Or perhaps there was a scroll of protection; she'd heard of these mythical things but never come across one.

Corilo's suggestion to get the elf into fresh air caught her attention. "Aye, a good idea. Assuming you can walk?" She arched an eyebrow in query at the elf. "I'm Brue Stonedottir. I didn't catch your name, friend. We mean you no harm. The sea air is bracing and will blow away the foul humors lingering in this cave." Brue turned to Lorenzo and Gnorth. "Is our new friend fit for travel?"

She eyed the maul and the other items. "And I agree these things likely came from Port Kir. Or some other prize. We should see them returned to their rightful owners."

Lorenzo nods in agreement with Corilo's comment.

"The lady smiles indeed."

He looks back at the fallen ogres.

"Three ogres lie dead, but we do not know how many we face. Or much of anything, truly. Anything you can tell us of the events here would be appreciated. But yes, no need to linger here, we can move this outside, if you would."
