"You are fine like you are. You've come as yourself and not pretending being someone else. And for me, you see the other side of the coin. It is not because I am a duelist that I cannot be a lady. After all, it is what I am before being a figther." She walks slowly toward Khairi as she tells that. She stops less then a meter from the Sairundani. She pause a oment, and the room is fill with a strange silent fill with emotion. She finally borke it. "I suggest we sit down and start to eat. I hope you'll enjoy the dinner, you'll see that I know how to respect my words." She smiles before walking on the other side of the table and sits down. She take a moment to smells the flowers.

A fine duelist you are, and much more. Khairi watches her as she walks toward him and enjoys the moment of silence as well. When Melinda suggests they eat Khairi will escort her to her seat and push her chair in for her as she sits. He will then take his seat. I assure you I already enjoy the meal. I am curious, please tell me of yourself.

"There isn't much to tell. I'm from Earling kingdom. My father is a Marquess. Our land are next to the Northern Mountain. My mother is dead giving birth to me, so I've been raised by my father. That's why I've learn the way or arms. The only female figure I had for a long time is my nurse, but later, my aunt took my lady education into hand." As she speaks, she extends the hand and pull the red ribbon behind her. "My father have forbidden me to become a mercenary or to join the army rank, but he conceed me the right to participate to tournement. After all, I'll be the one who will take care of our land the day my father will be unable to do it anymore, and as all father, he watch too close over his child."

The door open and the half-elf enter the room he stop at the edge of the table without telling a word, awaiting to be spoken to. "We are ready to start." The half-elf nods and exit, closing the door behind him. "I've participated to a few tournement with much or less success. Not all tournement separate new-comers and veterans. But tell me, what bring a Sairundani so far from his desert. I've herad about your culture a few times from other contestant who had travel, but it is the first time I have teh chance to meet one."

The half-elf enter with a covered plate. He walk next to Melinda and remove the cover. He takes the two bowls and put them in front of each. "Shrimp's bisque. Do you need anything else?" asks the half-elf. "No thanks". The half-elf turn his attention to Khairi, awaiting his answer before leaving.

Khairi replies to the half-elf....No thank you. Turning back to Melinda..... I am sorry to hear of your mother. It must have been difficult growing up. I must say that your Aunt has done well. And your father must be very proud.

As for me I grew up in a farming town called Baras of the Zephyr tribe. I have always wanted to be a dervish, a hero of my people. I have a lot to learn before I will be accepted by them as one of them. I am a bit awkward with the fighting style of the dervish and of singing and dancing. This has been a reason for my travels. I will return once I am ready to accept the challenge of the dervish and prove I am worthy. It is a great honor and is one of the few remaining ties to our old customs.

I have heard of Earling, is that where the gladiator fights are held?

[SBLOCK=OOC]Oops, I thought I had already replied...[/SBLOCK]

"Yes, but that's not sport. Gladiators are there for the show. They must gives a good show and sometimes, it is tricked so the crowd have for there money." She tells, with a little tone of digust in her voice. "I have been there once when I was a kid, and I liked that. It is because of that show that I wanted to fight like my father. I was dreaming to fight in the pit. But when I returned there ten years later, I understood what the Pit really was. My father had show me a tournement too. Tournement is a contest of skills, it is sport. The pit is a show nothing more."

As you both finish the soup. She takes a sip of wine. "I saw two others Sairundani at the tournement. Is any of them are Dervish. I'm no familiar with there style, but I've heard great praise about it."

Khairi

I see your point. I have enjoyed the tournament, even though the crowd did not favor some of my matches because there was not so much show. I do not think I would enjoy a scripted fight.

Kwella and Semabin are both more experienced fighters than I but I do not believe either of them have become Dervish yet. The style takes much practice and training, it is as much dance as fighting and you have to learn the blade as well so that it becomes part of you.

It's been a few minutes you've finished your soup that the half-elf enter. He takes your bowls and quickly clean the table before leaving. "So in your style, you've mixed the dance. It is original. I know a few person, good warriors, that would find this idea ridiculous. So you've learn to dance too? Have you try to participate to the performance contest?" she asks you with much interest.

The door open again and the half-elf place two plates in front of you. "Mustard and rosemary lamb with safran's potatoes and fresh vegetables" The half-elf takes the bottle of wine and refill the glasses. After you makes sign to him you are satsified, he leaves the room again.

Dance is a large part of the style and both singing and dance is a large part of our heritage. I did not enter the performance contest as I wanted to concentrate on the duel. This Orc you so easily defeated had my attention. I wore the heavy armor to learn its disadvantages. Like the saying you dont know a warrior til you have fought in his armor. In the final round I will fight more in style with my people.

"I've heard that your people usually fight with two scimitars. Isn't that too bulky? Scimitar are pretty heavy for a two-weapon style." she tells before taking a piece of meat. "So you've learn to sing and dance as part of your fight training? That's original. In Earling, women generally learn to sing and play music and men to fight. Very few learn both."

When one has truly mastered the fighting style the scimitars seem as a part of your arm and not heavy but an extension of your strength. Singing and dance is a large part of the culture. It seems that the role of women in Earling could change with you leading the way.
