Apologies, I misphrased my statement. It should have been more specifically stated as the unarmed strike not indisputably qualifying as a natural attack by RAW for the effects of the INA feat.
(emphasis mine)

So...by your own admission, the result of taking INA is an effect, therefore a Monk can take INA to improve his Unarmed Strikes, RAW.

We could do this all day, but we should probably fork this to a new thread...which, like all of the other threads about this will go on for a while before being closed, all without resolving the issue...

because WotC designers were imprecise with language.

I just checked my Tome of Magic and saw no such feat. Perhaps it was a different source, or perhaps I missed it because it was not by that name.

Can you recall which section of the Tome it was in? Binding magic, Shadow magic, or Truename magic?
None of them. It's actually in the Tome of Battle :)

INA may not work with monks, since it's not clear that Unarmed Strikes are natural attacks. WotC has been ambiguous about this, but it would make most sense if they are not.

That being said, I allow it to work because it makes the game more fun.
But it does very clearly say it is.
