Doom of the Savage Kings

GlassEye

Hank's patron, Fate, continues to make a mockery of Gratien and Lizt's skill with weapons deflecting arrows and attacks.

Franko's missile strikes the sorcerer and the Jarl's minion is gone with no trace beyond a spray of red droplets along the back wall. Hank burns luck to bring in another badger and the three creatures attack. Two successfully claw warriors of the Jarl. Homer, alas, also misses his target.

Kurl successfully petitions Bobugbubilz and heals Homer to nearly full health. Boral releases his anger at the bald thegn and Tender follows up with a brutal attack that drops the man to the floor, dead. His shield attack misses Ofenloch who tosses away his broken weapon and picks up the dead Jarl's sword.

The remaining thegns change tactics somewhat, focusing more on the others in combat and less on Tender. Two still fight against the dwarf but their attacks are deflected by magic and armor. Of the others, one wounds one of the badgers, another deals a serious blow to Homer, and the third drops Hank who begins bleeding out. Hank has a very short time before he dies.

*ungh!* grunts the halfling as he is severely hit. He tries again to fight his opponent, or at least draw an attack. These people MUST win. Lizt crept down low and crawled behind the Jarl's throne. She swept around to the opposite side, hoping to catch Ofenloch unaware. She sliced at him across his hamstrings with her short sword.

Across the room, Gratien gave up shooting at Ofenloch as a lost cause. He'd missed the thegn twice; obviously Ofenloch was beloved by the gods. Gratien selected a new target, finding one in a smaller thegn with crafty watery blue eyes and boiled leather armor. You'll do nicely, thought Gratien, pulling back on his bowstring and firing an arrow at the thegn.

[sblock=OOC]Lizt attack Ofenloch with short sword [roll0] for [roll1] damage.

Gratien attack Orioc with longbow [roll2] for [roll3] damage.[/sblock]

"I need some cover," Kurl says as he moves to heal the fallen Hank. Suddenly the nearby Utherl explodes from another magic missile barrage. "Alright that will work."

[roll0]

"Homer needs help, too," Boral says simply as he lets loose a bolt of magic of his own at Haedrick.

Hank is saved from death by the swift healing of Kurl and the blessing of his amphibious god. Homer fights like a madman, but it is all sound and fury signifying nothing. Franko very nearly topples Utherl but the hardy thegn holds on and continues the battle. At least until Hank's trio of badgers takes the warrior down in a flurry of paws and claws and teeth.

Lizt cuts across Ofenloch's hamstring and drops him to the ground. A quick slash of the blade and he is no more. Gratien continues to distract with arrows.

Boral's bolt wounds Haedrick as Kurl is healing Hank and Tender finishes off the thegn that Boral injured. Tender also manages to toss the dead warrior at his fellow and Haelf Halfson has to struggle to disentangle himself from the body.

The other two thegns, Orioc and Kreig, focus on Tender: Orioc's blade bounces off Tender's armor and Kreig swings so hard he knocks himself off balance and falls prone at Tender's feet.

[sblock=OOC]Unfortunately, spell criticals do not do double damage. You add your level to the spell check result. No extra effect in this case.

Lizt smirked at the fallen Ofenloch. She'd never liked him--he chewed with his mouth open, and liked to try to cop a feel when he was at the tavern. She continued creeping around the backside of the Jarl's throne, hoping to catch a thegn by surprise and backstab him. Gratien, having hit nothing with his bow, threw it down in disgust and drew his mithril short sword. If there was a thegn in reach, he went on the attack with gusto. If no thegn was within reach, he waded in the fray, intent on dispatching the nearest one.

[sblock=OOC]Lizt attack with short sword [roll0] for [roll1] damage. If the backstab hits, here's the d10 Table II roll: [roll2].

Not sure if Gratien can draw his weapon, move (close enough to reach a foe), and attack this round, but here's a roll in case he can: Gratien attack with mithril short sword [roll3] for [roll4].[/sblock]

Lizt hits something vital in attacking Haelf Halfson. Probably a kidney considering the location of the hit. The thegn drops like a rock, his eyes rolled back in his head clearly dead. Only the two thegns battling Tender remain.

GM: Round Five continues.

A whole lotta nuttin.

Hank; looks around and sees stars, being dizzy and weak from his gift to fate. There are still the jarl's men to deal with so he does what he knows of what to do.
summon another badger
Caster check: 1D20+3 = [8]+3 = 11
his recent brush with death seems to have disturbed his concentration as he fails his attempt.
[I do believe it said I had to spell burn BEFORE I rolled, so I failed.]

3 badger attacks
attack: 1D20+2 = [9]+2 = 11
1D20+2 = [5]+2 = 7
1D20+2 = [1]+2 = 3

It looks impressive with the teeth and claws, but all that happens is a bunch of growling.

Homer is not going to quit his attack, in fact he is more determined now then ever!
Attack & hopefully damage
attack - enlarged: 1D16 = [11] = 11
1D16 = [5] = 5

one attack hits, but bounces off of the armor, the other slices in air.

Franko looks about and wonders what he can try next. His eyes catch a black and white blur of furosity. "Oh, I know what I can do!
He casts enlarge on badger 3
Caster check: 1D20+4 = [16]+4 = 20
badger 3 doubles in size: +4 to attack, damage, ac, +10 hit points
