Eberron - The dawn of the warforged (recruitment closed)

I love the idea of a (nearly) all-warforged party! Since I've never played in Eberron before, I would love to play a race unique to the setting, so warforged would do fine. As would a changeling. :)

Perhaps a warforged monk for me? Or even a warlock? ;)

Edit to add: Perhaps we're just the "monday-morning stock" warforged who didn't quite become the archetypical fighters, but ended up being slightly "off". Perhaps the noble is escorting us to some place to be fixed, or is convinced we're alright and is setting out to prove it. Or perhaps we're all that remains of a large squadron of warriors, finding our way back to our employers (noble house)?

Bear in mind that monks have fairly serious issues with being warforged. The armor and stat penalties hose them pretty bad. You can get rid of the armor, but it costs a feat.

Warlocks have it easier. Even the charisma penalty is not TOO bad, as long as you avoid abilities that allow saving throws, or otherwise key off of Charisma.

The warforged entourage make me think this kalashtar might have some connections to Cannith. Or perhaps he's a mad genius who's made some schemas for weirdo warforged. I mean, a soulknife, warlock and wizard warforged are reeeeeeaally oddball. :) Or maybe he's an AI therapist who's helped us cope.

Dang. Pathfinder's version of the soulknife is way better. But that's true of ALL classes. Hee hee.

I was thinking my kalashtar would be a Lightbringer, a monk (in the religious sense) normally dedicated to meditation. For whatever reason he's left Adar, perhaps believing he's being guided by visions. Lawful Good, but after a life of serene prayer he's developed a distaste for much of the world he thinks he's working to improve. So a bunch of spellcasting/psionic warforged following a kalashtar spiritualist.

Stranger things have happened. :p

Hello gang,

Good to see the thread exploded all of the sudden.

The idea of a bunch of warforged is nice. There is actually a fairly good reason for a Kalashtar to travel around with a bunch of warforged, since they don't dream, and thus don't have a connection with Dal Quor. Mmh. Loads of possibilities there.

There's also a few reasons why a group of warforged would follow a kalashtar. They might want to attone for the Last War by following the Light, the eternal battle against Evil the Kalashtar are fighting. It would even make sense if there's a psionic Warforged (or two) in the band.

Kalashtar don't have nobility, so you woldn't be able to play a kalashtar noble. If you want to you can play a noble who is a kalashtar 'orphan', a young man or woman with psionic powers and some very very weird dreams. Also possibilities.

I kinda like the idea of a group of 'experimental' warforged. Don't go overboard with character creation yet, I might add a few twist when we've finalised the concept, such as giving y'all a free racial feat or whatnot.

Dang, how do you writte Kalashtar anyway. Khalashtar? Kalashtar? Khalastar?

Kalashtar. :)

And yes, I expect my character would be following him in hopes of further understanding the strange power it was imbued with. I like the idea that there could be an element of personal loyalty involved. Perhaps this kalashtar has done me some service, or was of aid at a critical moment...

Then again, it's likely all of the warforged were together before too. There must have been some catalytic event in the past where we came together with this mysterious kalashtar.

And the warforged warlock (I love that concept) trying to figure out how he ended up with these strange and dark powers (at creation? corrupt maker? fiendish interference later on?). Hoping the kalashtar will have the answers, or at least a way to get to the answers.

I'm fine with him not being an actual noble. The spiritual leader concept I mentioned in my last post is enough.

I mentioned to Rubberneck that it looks like there's room for us. He's not overly familiar with Eberron but he seemed to like the idea of playing either a warforged or another kalashtar. That's all I know for now - he'll be around in here at some point soon.

I'm going with Valharath as a name, still thinking I'll wind up with the psion class for him, his highest scores in Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma. I'm imagining him as a sort of archetypal religious guru. Goes around shirtless, prone to long periods of meditation and ritual fasting, that sort of thing.

Names? Glitch, of course! ;)

I think I'll make Glitch something of a magical sniper, with his Eldritch Blast and all. Any idea what level we're playing yet?
