OOC: Note: There was another bag of loot, William could have picked up. Also these bandits are all dressed funny. They wear normal leathers and such, but have an odd black mantle/cape draped over their shoulders.

Gutter moves ahead of the porch where the fight took place, and then motions it is clear for the others and the family to come along.

William grabs the second sack, pulls the cloaks off the bandits and stuff them in, he has a quick glance for easy purses. "Two cloaks won't be enough to pretend we're escorting prisoners, but if we get another..." He then heads off in the direction Gutter motioned, sword in one hand, javelin ready in the other.

OOC: Tina will lead the way to the keep in a way that avoid the major (wide with no cover) roads as best as she can remember after spending a few weeks in town.

Tina leads the group cautiously, looking in windows and doorways, to the last row of houses before the keep of Greenest. Her goal was the house she knew that also had a tree in the yard for extra cover.

From the corner the group can see the large keep on the hill. It is still manned and Lord Nighthill's banners still fly even though high above them the dragon roars. People from the north of your position seem to be getting into the still open gates.

A group of kobolds and cultist have blocked the road and thus the most direct route to the gates. From where you stand you could try and climb the hill and make your way to the gates, but you would be exposed almost the whole way. Going around the group would take longer, but which option is the most dangerous? You wonder.

OOC: I was a little confused as to how people were getting into the keep with the attackers there, but as I see it now, the kobolds and cultists are blocking the road but staying too far to be shot at from the keep and some refugees are running up the far (from us) side of the hill. Is that right?

"I don't much like or odds of taking out eight attackers." William says. "I think we should skirt round the hill a little then head up to the keep. Once we're in bow range of the keep, we'll be a lot safer and much more capable of dealing with attackers."

OOC: I was similarly confused. Which looks safer/easier to defend/has more cover from dragon: circling to the north, or to the south along the river bank. I suppose the river could provide somewhere to escape from dragon fire. :)

The keep was so close, well at least closer than it was when they were fighting bandits and kobolds. Tina and William watched the gates for a moment, and saw a family come rushing out between the shadows of two buildings and bee-line for the gates. The kobolds yelped and the bandits ran forward.

Suddenly a half dozen arrows flew from the walls of the keep and had the group ducking for cover and running back down the small hill on the road to lie flat and still. The family was met by a couple guards and then escorted inside.

Tina watched the skies for the dragon, and saw the blue scales glittering off the fire light of the burning homes. It was circling lazily around the outskirts of town, using the warm air currents to slowly glide about with no intended path.

OOC: TallIan you are correct, the refuges are running from between the northern buildings to the keep, and any bandit who tries to go after them gets shot at. Right now there are not enough bandits to seal off all the area.

The river is more of a creek, cross-able and wade-able. The hill on the far side is very steep, but the hill closest to the group is transverse-able. All I need to know is your planned route, and I'll assume you make your move when the dragon is circling away from you, and not looking in your general direction. haha
