[sblock=OOC: ]I rolled for Rathan, 14 Init and 6 Listen. Here's the initiative:

Init:
Watchman 20
Rathan 14
Cludge 13
Criminal 10
Saithnar 3
Galwynn 2[/sblock]

Surprise Round:

The happy parade is rudely interrupted as a haggard looking man in gray makes his way through the crowd, shoving people out of his way in his haste. Behind him, a member of the city guard is following, barely keeping pace.

The chasing watchman is 60' from the edge of the crowd. The criminal is a good 15' into the crowd. (For reference, Rathan and the pie is at the front of the crowd, which is about 60' deep.)

Movement through the crowd costs x2 movement.

Round One:

The watchman chases the criminal. He's wearing studded leather armor and wields a halberd. He just barely reaches the edge of the crowd.

Rathan's action...

And then Cludge...

Cludge Slatefist, Pie Escort

OOC: If he is made aware of the approaching escapee, Cludge will follow Rathan for 20' (move action) and take a position directly between the pie and the approaching criminal. He will ready a standard action to attack the approaching villan. He will call out for Galwynn to stay with the pie.

Rathan

Rathan stands is utter confusion. MORE people are at it again, over a pie no less. " This pies innards better be made of platinum..." the cleric utters as he looks to Cludge... " do something..... I'll follow your lead.. Rathan utters as he waits for Cludge to make a move....

OOC: I'm holding my action until Cludge makes his... then will follow his lead and hope to be protected....

[sblock=OOC2] LOL! I guess it would help if I had read cludges action before I had posted.... it's the blind leading the blind LOL[/sblock]

Round One (Cont.):
Cludge and Rathan move forward a little bit. Rathan gets in front of Cludge, and Cludge stands ready to block the criminal's forward progress.

The crowd is half screaming, half still laughing. Confusion mounts, and even as the crowd thins, it gets harder to move through. The criminal is desperately pushing people aside, making slow progress. (Double move, 30' forward, now 50' from Cludge and 55' from Rathan.)

Saithnar...

Saithnar hears the shouts of alarm both verbal and mental, causing him to turn and survey the unfolding scene behind them all. Taking it in, he devises a plan of action quickly. He begins shoving his way forward through the crowd, he prepares to unleash his mental energies and attempt to charm the running man. "Don't attack him yet, let me 'talk' with him first..."

OOC: Moving forward 15 ft (1/2 of 30' regular move due to crowd) then readying an action to unleash a Psionic Charm as soon as the running man is within his 25' range (which should be when he moves 5 more feet if my calculations are correct). Will save- DC 14

HP: 8/8
PP: 3/5 (after unleashing Charm)

The criminal doesn't even flinch at Saithnar's attempted mind invasion.

Round Two:

The watchman wades through the panicked parade, being much nicer than the criminal, but still moving slowly. (Move 30' through crowd.)

Rathan waits behind Cludge with the pie.

Cludge, now joined by Galwynn, prepares for the approach of the villain.

The criminal drives onward. He gets within reach of Cludge and Galwynn and gets a face full of hurt. (Cludge, attack roll please. Are you attacking with the sword? And Galwynn, damage roll.)

Cludge watches intently as the fleeing criminal approaches to within arms length. He suddenly drops his sword and makes a grab for the man. NOT SO FAST THERE, PAL! he shouts.
[sblock=Grapple, Touch attack] Touch attack (1d20+5=20) [/sblock]
He reaches out a meaty fist and takes a handful of the man's shirt, pulling the criminal into a solid bear hug.
[sblock=Grapple, initiate grapple] Grapple attempt (1d20+5=24) [/sblock]
I suggest ya don't move, laddie, lest I crush something tender he says to the criminal. Gal, look to tha pie! I'll take care o' this un!

[sblock=OOC] There, some nice rolls for a change. I assume the man will have trouble getting out of THAT. Pin attempt next round.[/sblock]
