You have all decided to take a break from adventuring to visit the annual Greyford street fair, which is famed even in Waterdeep for the great shows the halflings and other performers put on.

The town of Greyford lies a few days south of Waterdeep, sitting on a small local river. Crenellated stone walls, interuppted by tall watch towers, surrond the buildings, but today the life spills outside the city walls. Colorfull carts and wagons, flags, ribons, and people of all sort line the road leading to the main east gate. The smells and sights of a fair drift twoards you all, roasted meat, the cries of street vendors, performers vying for attention, exoctic spices from far away places, all and more can be noticed today.
It seems as if the brightly dressed halflings are directing most of the action, although there are guards at the gate looking over every visitor carefully and peacebonding all weapons, although they seem rather relaxed.

Well, what do you do? Your at the end of the line of people trying to get into the fair through the east gate.

He breathes deep the smells of roast boar mixed in with some heavy garlic, the scent making his stomach grumble loudly...Sorry Looking at the gnome woman staring at him in line all this food smell makes a dwarf belly a wee bit loud.

Alexi

Waiting in the line is a young and pretty Calìshìte woman. She is rather small, slender and willowy with dusky brown skin. Her slightly curled brunette hair is worn waist-long and open and her beautiful eyes are of a sparkling brown color. She is wearing loose-fitting, airy, dark brown pants, sandals and a small green gold-lined vest, with a rather revealing decolette, showing off her slim waist and bare midriff. Around her hips, she wears a broad leather belt with a large golden buckle. Two small leather pouches are hanging from it. The oriental woman also wears a beautifully crafted golden headband, as well as some other golden jewelry, bracelets, an anklet, rings and earrings. Casually slung over one shoulder, she also carries a rather small backpack. She speaks with a noticeable Alzhedo accent as she talks to some other person in the line, who looks as impatient as herself.

“Back in Waterdeep, I heard about this festival. Really, I'm so looking forward to see the famed performers. Can't this go a little bit faster? How are all these people fit into the small town, anyways? They should have brought the festivities to Waterdeep, that city is huge. I mean, Calimport is a big city as well, but not that big. Ahh, this will be so much fun, if we can get in, before everything is over, that is.”

Tapping with her left foot impatiently, one hand keeping her backpack in place, while the other hand rests on her hip, she looks up as a tiny black bird, a crow probably, lands on her now outstretched arm and starts talking to her in a strange tongue. She answers in the same language and hurls the bird back into the sky, where it starts circling over the city.

Smiling gently, she waits for the crowd to move on...

Looking through the crowds, Tycher wonders if the same kind of gangs exist here as in Waterdeep. Back in Waterdeep this kind of crowd would have attracted enough thieves for everyone to be happy!

Looking over the heads of those in front of him Tycher wanders at the crowds waiting to get into the city. Muttering to himself he wanders if this is the best way to relax- surely there are better ways than standing in line. Still, this is a famous show, but it would be nice if the guards at the front could be a bit faster about moving the line along.

Squinting at the halflings at the gate he thinks about the reputation of travelling halfling bands, the likelihood of other thieves ebing present, and tucks his pouch into his pants, rather than having it hang outside!

Daku

Daku looked about him, amazed by what he saw. He'd heard of the Greyford street fair only a few days ago, and assumed from the description that Greyford would not only be an interseting diversion, but also perhaps a bit less stifling than the crowded city of Waterdeep. The town was certainly smaller, but no less crowded. If anything, there were more people per square foot here than in Waterdeep! Daku shook his head, simply unable to understand how these people could enjoy being so crowded together.

As he turned to leave, he saw a small black shape, yes a crow, land on the outstretched arm of an attractive woman he hadn't noticed before. Moving closer, watching the interaction of the woman and crow, Daku muttered under his breath.

Is it a spirit? No, not a spirit. Definately not a regular crow though. Yes, I know it is a raven, but a raven is a type of crow brother. Could it be a sign then? Perhaps we should stay and speak with this woman who keeps company with our feathered cousin.

Daku joined the line behind the woman, thinking that perhaps this trip wouldn't be a waste after all. If the woman turned out to be a druid she could be a source of information, and if she were a sorcerer or wizard, she could be even more educational. Once inside the town he would introduce himself.

As you all enter through the maingate, the guards peacebond your weapons. this involves tying them into their seathes, or putting a bag over them. Anything larger then a dagger is peacebound. Anyone who refuses is denied entrance into the city. Also, anyone they suspect of being a spellcaster has two fingers on each hand bound togeather, their holy symbol covered, and their spell component pouches sealed. You are now free to enjoy the fair!

To undo a peacebond on a weapon is one full round that provokes an AOO. Using a close combat weapon peace bound is at a -1 penalty, and also has -1 to damage. Undoing the binding on your fingers is a move equivlent action. With your fingers bound, its a 20% chance of spell failure if it has stomatic components. Undoing your pouches and holy symbols is also half a round each. All provoke AOOs. I will let you guys do what you want at the fair. Until hijinks ensue at least

Once inside the city limits, the Calìshìte woman takes a walk around, looking at all the interesting performances and street vendors. She stops at one place, where they sell extravagant-looking clothing and looks through their collection curiously.

OOC: Did they suspect Alexi to be a spellcaster and peacebond her or not? She won't resist, but won't tell them either, if they don't ask by themselves.

Daku

Once passed through the gate Daku will approach the young woman who was speaking with the crow and introduce himself.

Pardon Miss, I am called Daku, a shaman of the Tuigan. Our totem is the Crow,so I could not help but notice your conversation with a the crow outside the gate, and I was curious as to your relationship with it.

As he walks Daku will keep an eye open for any or shops selling exotic woods, hardwoods especially. teak, mohagany, zebrawood, rosewood, something hard and dense with an attractive grain suitable for a decoratively carved club.

They would supsect anyone with anyone who has such a well trained crow of being a spellcaster. Also, if they ask everyone if they are spellcasters, and if you have any overt spellbooks/magic items/spell component pouches they will search you. If you lie to them you are fined 10 GP. If you want to play out the encounter with the guards, I will.

Jamal

Jamal will enter the grounds. He will wander from stall to stall, pretending to be interested in the wares, while he checks out who would be worth stealing from. He'll also keep an eye out for other thieves, and stear clear of them if possible.
