D&D 5E Glaive vs. Halberd - what's the difference?

Personally, I really wished they had included a katana on the weapons list as well. 1d8 slashing damage, versatile (1d10), 3 lbs, 25gp. In other words, identical to a longsword, but +10 gp pricier. Because it's just a sword.

A katana has been traditionally compared to a slim (masterwork) Bastard sword in most earlier editions. But stat-wise, you're not wrong.

Glaive vs. Halberd - what's the difference?

If memory serves, a "Halberd" is Old English for a musician employed by Harold while a "Glaive" is the preferred weapon of Professor Frink.

Wasn't it the Warhammer RPG that had all weapons do the same damage?

D&D was the first RPG to do so. In 1974.
