"Wonderful, more stairs." Phoenix complains before moving to follow Lookspring down into the basement as her mind blade provides a comforting hum to ease her nerves.

Noticing Lookspring watching his step, "They are cut stone steps, steep but sturdy. Grab the handrail and you should be fine." Korash then with one hand grips the hand rail and the other his axe and makes his way down.

"This light effect only lasts for a minute. I can make another, but Korash's torch would be just as good." Kamdar takes a look into the area. "We might want to hurry."

And so with Lookspring in the lead the group began down the steep stairs. Lookspring had yet to grab the railing, perhaps trusting on his catlike reflexes to keep him safe. Korash didnt risk it - probably what they say about Dwarves, particularly ARMORED dwarves, is true. The gnome Kamdar followed, guiding his magical lights down the steep stairs. Phoenix waited, tenatively and unsure at the top of the stairs, but said nothing.

Meanwhile as the light drew closer to the basement cavern the bugs scurried away toward chests and tables, toward armoires and crates, and away from the light and noise of the party.

[sblock=Lookspring]It is cool here, but dry. There is another opening across the room that plunges into darkness.[/sblock]
[sblock=Korash]The walls are stone, and well made. The temperature is consistent with caverns so near the surface.[/sblock]
[sblock=Kamdar]It is cool here. the echo of your footsteps suggest an exit other than the one you came from.[/sblock]

"Good craftsmanship in the stonework, solidly built." Korash remarks as he makes his way down to the bottom of the stairs. Once at the base,"One lit torch on its way." Korash replies to Kamdar's request as he set his weapon down, removes his pack and fishes for the torch, flint and steel. After lighting it he hands it to Kamdar and dons his pack and rearms himself.

Kamdar takes the torch and continues looking, purposefully. "There's another exit to this room..." He sends the globes of light to different parts of the room while he uses the torch to help him look, in order to light as much of the room as possible.

Lookspring peers into the darkness, his sensitive eyes picking up faint shapes in the darkness. "There is another room this way." He says before moving towards it.

Phoenix finally ventures down the steps after the others. "doesn't seem to be anything dangerous here yet. Maybe something in the next room I can carve up though...." she mutters as she follows Lookspring onwards.

Kamdar looks up from his search just long enough to send the globes of light in the direction of the next room. He doesn't need them, since he has the torch.

The gnome's lights spread out across the room, highlighting the many items stored here. Its a veritable trove of crap, erm, I mean priceless heirlooms. Lookspring begins heading for the far side of the room, and the now lit alcove that clearly leads somewhere else. Korash, Kamdar, and Phoenix spread out in the room a bit, but keep an eye open for trouble.

[sblock=Lookspring]As you reach the far side of the room its clear its getting colder, probably unaturally so. The "other room" is in fact another set of stairs descending down.[/sblock]

ooc:Ill be out of town for the next two days. GIve me some detail on where you're going and what you're doing. THeres lots to see and do in this room, and so on.
