It was originally written for his Dangerous Journeys roleplaying game, back in the1990s. At the time he wrote it, he was probably in his 50s. I don't see it as immature, but more of a throwback to old-school adventures. I think a party that is careful and uses a lot of investigative methods, including magical ones, can avoid the types of traps you're pointing out. Still, it may not be for everyone.

So the Cult of Yex is a generic mega-adventure? It isn't a new "world"? I would be able to throw it into any campaign with nothing other then the bare minimum of changes?

If so I will be in line.
